Anything that will adhere to metal. For my first one, I just sprayed spray paint in a paper cup and used a paint brush.(For the details. I just sprayed right out of the can for the basic color.) For my second one I went to a craft store and picked up some metal paint.

Hey, man...
I am a custom automotive painter by trade, and I will be happy to paint your gun for you for a cheap price. But if you want to do it yourself here are some tips.
Ultimately you should use auto grade basecoat/ clearcoat system. this looks the best, and lasts the longest. but it is very expensive. (It's what I use every day) And it takes alot of expertise to mix and spray properly. If you can go to your local paint and body shop they may sell you a small amount for fairly cheap. You'd be surprised, ask for the painter, offer him a beer, and youd be amazed how helpful he becomes. But if you aren't willing or able to do that, or pay my modest fee for a custom paint job. Just go to home depot or equivilent, buy some enamel. but then make sure to get CLEARCOAT. this provides durability and gloss. Rule #1. Take it apart. you will get such a better job if you do little masking. #2. Sand everything well with about 400 grit sandpaper. #3. wipe all paintable areas down with some alcohol to remove the oils and grease that will cause fish-eyes. VERY IMPORTANT. #4 While painting, BE patient. if the can says 15 minutes between coats, wait 15 minutes. This could make all the difference in a good job or what we in the business call an abortion... And #6.. Again be patient! When you are done spraying, your first impulse will be to put it together immediately to see ho cool it looks, but force yourself to walk away for a while. go to sleep, whatever. Many perfect jobs have been fingerprinted and gouged because the painter was over eager to admire his art.
Well, thats about all the advice I'd give for free. There are alot of important details that I cant really tell you here. You just have to do it for a few years to be a really good painter, but if you don't expect perfection, you should be able to do a decent enough job yourself. If you need more help, or just wanna let me do it for you. it's gminorop23@hotmail.com
Thanks, Jason

thats alright...i went ahead and sold my old tippy and am going to buy an autococker....and i don't think that it would be very legal for a 13 year old kid to give a auto painter a beer. but the tips will be useful if i do decide to paint my cocker...thanks for the advice:crazy:
