I have been looking for weeks for a new barrel and having a real hard time deciding...i've read dozens of reviews for one barrel and decide to get that then read dozens of reviews for another barrel and i change my mind......
im lost:confused:
i am looking to buy a new barrel for my 98c and have narrowed it down to 4 different barrels
1-Lapco Snapshot
2-Lapco Bigshot
3-Smart Parts Teardrop
4-J&J Ceramic
which barrel do you think is better for woods ball and why?
which one do you think has better accuracy and durability?

Lapco is what I would go for. Very accurate and great quality. And if you cant get one of those, then get a J&J.

The Bigshot is better than the Ceramic and the Progressive. The Snapshot is a 2-piece, but I have no experience w/ it. I'd take a CP One-Piece or LAPCO Bigshot out of all those.

QFT. You don't really need the Snapshot (2-piece) unless you have different backs. The Bigshot is a really great one-piece, pretty durable too. It is kind of loud though.

You will be happy with any of the Lapco barrels or the J&J ceramic. I have shot a Bigshot and a Ceramic. I would say the Bigshot is a little more accurate, and you should not remove it from your possible choices. The Ceramic is accurate as well, and it also has a self-cleaning feature in the event of a ball break. If you have the money, I have heard many people rave about the Snapshot barrel.
I would stay away from the Teardrop. There are betters out there.
Basically, you searched well. I would recommend 3 of those 4 barrels.

ok thanks.....so it would be then either bigshot or ceramic
the snapshot i dont really need cause i dont have diffrent backs....the teardrop isn't the best in my choices....the bigshot is i little bit louder than the ceramic but also has a little better accuracy....and the ceramic is good for shooting through breaks...lol did i get that all right??
fyi:
Snapshot:3
Bigshot:4(back in)
Teardrop:0(out)
Ceramic:3
ps. i was looking at bigshot barrels and saw one that was aluminum and one that was stainless.....it there a diffrence in proformance.....or just the metel

Where did you see this? I went to their website (www.lapco.net) and didn't find anything about that...but yeah, keep the Bigshot in consideration, I use one and haven't had any problems yet. I have a two-piece J&J ceramic (the Full Tilt), and had a break once...it didn't really "self-clean" all that well, I still ended up having to swab it. Plus, the porting took some time to clean out.

Hmm. That is a good question. I would guess that the outside finish is what they're referring too, as there is an $8 difference in price. I don't know for sure though, maybe someone else will.

Doropaintball had some, but they were for the Old 98 threads. My advice is to watch some on eBay, I got mine for $25 shipped in an auction. Otherwise, it looks like you'll be stuck paying about $50.

They used to have a SS and aluminum version. I had the aluminum and my friend has an SS. Other than the SS being heavier and only availible in silver there was no difference.
