I am going to open a field, and i'm not sure how much to charge for:
1 gun, tank, mask + 200 paintballs
This is for an entire day, the field is going to be really nice and the paint is going to be high quality.
How does like $19 sound? or just $15 for the gun and stuff.

That sounds good. At my field they charge $25 if you have to rent and $5 if you have your own stuff. Then paintballs are $80 case of 2000. Its expensive, but me and my friends always split the paint so its less money

Thanks for the info, what kind of guns do they rent out? and how many people ussually play with the field gear?
thanks, josh:cool:

They are almost always Tippys for rent. Buy as many sets as people are allowed on the field, if you know what I mean. For instance, if you are only letting 20 people on your field, buy 20 guns, masks, cases, hoppers, etc. That way, if EVERYONE is renting, you'll still be ok.

that sounds like a good idea, thats a big initial purchase though... Tippmanns propobly are the best to rent out because they are tuff guns. If anybody can just throw in some info, i'd apreciate it. So about $20 sounds good with 200 rounds of paint?
jaronervin
02-16-2002, 04:26 AM
That sounds right. Do you already own the land and all that? If not, 20 guns is a big buy, but if you do own it, it wouldn't sting as much to buy a whole lot!

We are gonna rent an old warehouse so that we can play when it is raining :). Right now we are trying to figure out how many guns we need and how much to charge, If anybody can post any info on the subject i'd be very thankful.

if i owned a field, i'd rent out piranah field markers. vertical feed ones.
josho
02-16-2002, 04:57 AM
are they pretty cheap and durable? I've never owned one. Also, i thought that there was a package that companies would sell that came with 10 gun packages, 2 ref masks and field supplies. Does anybody know where i could find one?
jaronervin

I think www.shop4paintball.com does that, but I'm not sure. Jay

thats a good site, but i didn't see anything on that. They said something about discounts on bulk orders so maybe i'll give them a call.

Right now, I am trying to find which store does it. I remember one place had a little section on bulk orders, but I can't remember which one!

02-16-2002, 05:11 AM
yeah me too, i might have seen it in a magazine... hmmm maybe 888paintball has it. So does anybody go to a field that rents out guns? and if so how much do they charge?
jaronervin
02-16-2002, 05:13 AM
That is weird! At the time I opened this post again, I was at the 888paintball home page! they don't have it, though:| .
josho
02-16-2002, 05:14 AM
yeah i checked too, oh well they overprice everything anyways!:pissed:
use spyder compacts. they are only 70-80 dollars in most places and you could buy a package deal(gun, mask, tank, and barrel plug and squegee) for the same price as just a tippman marker.

the best gun for fields is the 98, because they are durable. It is a lot easier for a newbie to break a compact than a tippy.
josho
02-16-2002, 06:06 AM
yeah, model 98's are good. i've owned 2... lol. Used equipment is an option though because i need cheap guns to start off with, then work my way up to model 98.

Yeah except are you gonna get ur own fill station? that can get prety $$
josho
02-16-2002, 06:09 AM
well i'll need one, about how much do they cost?
jaronervin
02-16-2002, 06:18 AM
fill stations run from $50 to $150 I think. But the scuba tanks are seperate, and are also around $100.
jaronervin
02-16-2002, 06:23 AM
fill stations run at $50 at paintballgear.com. You will also need a scale, which paintballgear has for $40.

I thought you were gonna say like 600 or something, a couple hundred isn't very much compared to the rental gun purchases. Anybody have any ideas on how to make a good field? Since it is going to be in a warehouse, i was thinking of getting junk cars and make them into bunkers by flipping them over and putting them on their sides and stuff to simulate a warzone.

02-16-2002, 06:34 AM
Hey! We have a truck hood in our speedball field... You could make some bunkers like that!
josho
02-16-2002, 06:40 AM
yeah, that would work good too. I don't really want just regular bunkers made of plywood... i want it to be a little different then most paintball fields

I'm also making bunkers soon out of stacked up tires, and I'm getting steel drums (barrels, whatever you call them). They'll probably go good, too.

Oh, I played on this one field in georgia and they used inflatable barriers. After the war i saw the field owner go and pick up all the paint because none of it would break on the barriers, lol:laugh:

98's are definately the best option for a rental marker. Pick up a copy of APG magazine and look for field starter packages in the ads.

I would definately get Tippys. You will get lazy and will no longer want to take apart 20+ markers and clean them and oil them. If you have 98s or pro-lites they will keep on ticking, albeit at less than 100%. If you have Spyders and you neglect them, you will spend a lot of time at the field cleaning paint from the bolts and oiling them while people are waiting and you have better things to do. Get the Tippys and then you won't have to worry about maintence as much.
NOTICE This adivce only applies to field owners. It's a lot easier to take care of one Spyder than 20, and Spyders are still good markers for individual players.

i'd suggest using the pro-lites more the M98. The only reason is because the M98 have that clam shell design. If something does go wrong, you'd have to take the whole thing apart and watch for out for the little parts in there. Just my opinion.
Edit: just remembered a site that can be very helpful to new feild owners.

Yeah thats the main thing i'm looking for is durability! I don't care if they are really upgradable or anything. Price is also gonna be a big factor, but i guess people would pay more if they get to use expensive guns instead of spyders...:eyes:

Where i play, we use old army trucks and timberjack tires as bunkers, they work very well.
You could get free timberjack tires at a local tire shop. Also, we use tippmanns and they are very durable and accurate even with the stock barrel.

I would also say go with a tippy. I would rather rent out prolites though...they have a better design to clean and not that clam shell ****. They are also made a little bit better IMHO. But they cost a little more....so it's a trade off.
BTW...Skirmish USA, one of my local fields and one of the biggest fields in the world rents tippys...98's I believe. Last time I was there for a senerio game they were renting to both the senerio players and and about 200+ walk on's that werent in the s-game. They have quite an opperation going on there and I think they charge $29 for a similar package to the one you are contemplating. They have very nice fields and decent refs though...as well as pretty much good everything...besides paint prices (100 a case).

I think national paintball supply has field starting kits that have like chronos and guns and everything that might be a place to check out... heres the link http://www.nationalpaintball.com/html/fieldexamples.html I'm not sure how great of deals those are but I thought I would let you know regardless...

i say u should get like ten tippmans and ten rebels rebels .are little cheaper than the syders but perform better though and i used to have a vertical {(now a tricked out rebel :) )} and they r very good guns and tippmans man what can i say baout these these r the best lower end guns very very very good my bro has one and he likes it and so do i but try a 10/10 because u will save alot of money lets say the tippmans are about $120 per gun times that buy 10 and it equals $1,200. and the rebel verts are about $80-$75 times that by ten and that equals $800-$750 u will save alot of money if u do it this way thats $400-$450 that u can spend on mask plus paintballs tanks ect..... well thats my 2 cents hope this helps a little.:D
O bye the way reson y i say rebels instead of the sydeers compacts is because the compacts are more $$$ and are not as good as the rebels are:P

Just back to your first question... I think $20 would be a good price. At my local indoor field (although yours isn't indoor) there is just 1 playing field and it costs $25 for all the equipment (98 custom, V-force goggles) and 200 pballs (I think PMI Premium) with a 2 hour time limit. The time limit is only enforced if it's busy though. Just a thought.

For rentals, I'd probably go with a tough pump like a Tipp SL-68 II, but if you insist on a semi, take a look at a Mokal Titan. It's cheap, durable and effective.

National paintball product suppplyer, or something like that NPPS, has a package for GT Ones, its like you get 30, with Hoppers, tanks for each, masks, and 4 extra ref masks, fill station, without tank, chrono, scale, barrel plugs, for 1000 dollars, or something liek that.
As for bunkers, use whatever you can get your hands on. Ive seen cars, to stacks of broken computers.

Use some field finders...
Get on the websights of some established paintball fields. Most of them have a breakdown of rental packages, paint fees, and what they charge self equipped players. Make sure you are insured.
The sight for my home field is paintballjungle.com
yes being insured would be a very good idea so check with the insurance company about the bunkers and warehouse u may have to make some changes. Here is a idea to get a little extra profit.Have different levels of guns. for instance the stock tippmann package for 20 bucks. Then have a tippmann with response trgger +80 bucks for 30 dollars start with maybe five of these sets and if they are popular add more. The response trigger makes the gun full auto so that might not even be allowed. Well anyways just a idea. Then again u would probabally be better of with that kit from national paintball.

slug makes a really good point. if you have 20 guns say tipp 98's then if you had maybe 5 better guns that might be kinda nice to give people that extra choice...
