i would not get the shockteck bolt, aftermarket fron bols do nothing for the performance of a tippmann, as a matter of fact you will see the same or worse performance from the shockteck. also, if you plan on switching markers soon, even if you like the cyclone alot, i would get an egg, halo, or reloader. i though i was going to keep my tippmann, but i didnt and now i have to go out ang get another hopper, but it is a very nice thing to have. if your going to polish the internals, i suggest doing it by hand, theres more risk involved with doing something to your marker with a 30,000 rpm machine than doing it by hand, same product, ones just safer and takes longer, thats all that i see, good luck!

Youll need an Air Splitter for the Cyclone and RT to work together... And by closed bolt, I think your a Bit confused. Closed bolt is like an AutoCocker. When you pull the trigger the gun shoots and the bolt moves back to let another ball in the chaimber. What your doing is like the Rocket Cock...

That's a lot of money to spend when you could probably buy a mech Cocker or an Automag and be just as happy, if not moreso.

A project's a project though, have fun. I might suggest the quick-strip modification if that's not already on your to-do list.

Yea, Just be careful with it. Alreade F-ed Up one of my shells... If your Looking for a Sleeper, a Good Investment would be a E-Bolt. No need for the $20 Air Splitter or $60 Response Trigger. That would Eliminate alot of useless stuff. But would be a good chunk of change if you can find one used.

QEV
- For cyclone removes Return air buffer, and helps the cyclone cycle smoother, with better speeds.

Explain more on the closed bolt thing because the marker can no longer be cocked from the rear...... only the front.... so the back is compltely closed..... i thought thats what a closed bolt gun is....... a gun in which the bolt is closed in......

That sounds like an expensive undertaking. You could probably buy a nice high end marker for the same price. But props for going for the custom 98, that’s kind of what I did to my 98 :)
There are a couple suggestions I would like to give you though that will help you save a bit of cash. Read below

This is the plan if you see any errors in my doing now would be a great time for alternatives or advice

Tippmann 98 Custom

* Padded Black Delrin Hammer
- Faster Cycle Rate, Improves Accuracy, Eliminates Recoil, Improves Gas Usage
The low pressure kit comes with a new lighter rear bolt.
* Closed Bolt (Rear Cocking Slot Filled)
- Silences Gun, Keeps Gun Cleaner, Eliminates Bolt Damage, Improves Gas Usage
The low pressure kit also comes with a rear cocking system and a plate to close up the “bolt slot”. Check the picture in my sig.
* Maddman Spring Kit
- Strengthens Gun, Improves Accuracy
Messing with your drive spring and sear spring can really mess with your marker’s performance if they are not tweaked perfectly. If you want a different trigger spring for a lighter pull, just use a clickey pen spring.
* Shocktech Bolt
- Improves Accuracy, Decreases Noise, Improves Gas Usage
I have heard they don’t add any noticeable performance.
* Folding Stock
- Stabilizes Gun, Improves Accuracy, Increases versatility
* Cyclone Feed System W/ Vortex Mod and QEV
- Feeds 25 BPS, Mechanical, Quite Operation, Eliminates Ball Breakage
* Stiffi 16 Inch Barrel
- Quiets Gun, Improves Accuracy, Improves Distance
* Remote With Slide Check
- Lowers Profile, Frees Movement
* Palmers Fatty Vertical Stabilizer
- Quiets Gun, Improves Gas Usage, Eliminates Freezing, Consistent, Fast Recharge Rate
If im not mistaken, the fatty stabilizer is a high pressure regulator. If you are going to buy a low pressure kit, you have to get a low pressure regulator like an empire reg.
* Marballizer Paint balls
- Increases Accuracy, Consistent, Strong Fill, Thick, Eliminates Ball Breakage
* Polished Internals w/ Mag & Aluminum Polish
- Quiets Gun, Faster Cycle Rate, Improves Accuracy, Eliminates Recoil, Improves Gas Usage
* High Pressure Air
- Quiets Gun, More Consistent, Improved Efficiency
Go for a carbon fiber tank if you have the money.
* Response Trigger
- Improves Rate Of Fire, Full Auto Mode
The response trigger only helps reset the trigger faster than a spring would. Use the money on an E-grip, you can find them for about the same price as a response trigger if you look around. They are so much better than a response trigger, you wont be disapointed with it.
* Low Pressure Kit
- Better Efficiency, Less Recoil, More Consistent Shot to Shot Velocity
* Front Cocking Ram
- Allows Closed Bolt, Quiets Gun, Improved Efficency, Improved Gas Usage
???
* 200 PSI Operating Pressure
- Less Ball Breakage, Quiets Gun, Improves Efficency, Improves Gas Usage
If your running a Tippmann on low pressure, they work most efficiently at around 310 psi.
* 4 Cubic Inch Volume Chamber
- Allows Lower Operating Pressures, Improves Efficency
The low pressure chamber that comes with the low pressure kit works pretty well on its own, you don’t really need to buy a new one.
* Sensitive Valve
- Allows Lighter Rear Bolt, Improves Efficency, Supplies Flow Demand
The low pressure kit comes with a new valve that is much, much more sensitive than the stock one. I would not advise tweaking it unless you realy know what your doing.
* Ported and Polished
- Allows Lower Operating Pressures, Improves Efficency, Quicker Recharge Rate, Better Flow
The only place you would port would be the feed neck to stop air from blowing back into it to cause miss-feeds and chops. But because your buying a cyclone feed, porting is not necessary.
* Internally Silenced
- Stops Echos, Quiets Gun
Im not quite sure how you would do that. Tippmanns aren’t very loud in the first place [at least not loud because of moving parts]. A low pressure kit and a barrel with a lot of porting are pretty much the only way to quit your marker.
* De - Burred Powertube W/ Anti - Chop
- Smoother Cycle, Reduces Ball Chops
You don’t need to de burr the power tube unless it has factory defects. And the anti chop mod is pretty much useless if you get a cyclone feed.
* Magnetic Trigger And sear
- Smoother Pull, Cleaner, No Ping
Eek! Don’t mess with your sear or sear spring, the spring is calibrated perfectly the way it is. A magnetic hair trigger would be nice though.
* E - Z Disassemble Valve
- Better Cleaning, Break Down Ease
* Tigerstripe Paint Job W/ Satin Finish
- Camo, Conceals Gun, Appeal
* Completly Mechanical
- Durablity, Sensitvity
An e grip would not hurt..
* Graphite Lubed
- Reduces Wear, Smoother Cycle, More Consistent Cycle
* Blow Back Elimanted
- More Consistent Feeds
Blow back elimination? Im not sure what your getting at, but Tippmanns function using open bolt blow back. Stopping the blowback would cause the marker to not re-cock.
* No Trigger Slop
- Keeps Trigger Centered, Elimantes Binding
* Trigger Stop
- Shorten Trigger Pull, Increases Rate Of Fire
* High Flow Air Line
- Improves Air Flow, Lower Operating Pressure
* Custom Looks
- Milled Sights, Milled Letters, Milled Grip, Filled Warning

yeah i know how to tweak the valve and sear connections properly and all.... but i thought the fatty had a max pressure of 400 psi making it a low pressure regulator, as far as porting is you increase the size of the holes in your asa va and polish those holes you increase the amount of air that can flow into your gun in turn you could also lower pressure, polishing also allows the air to recharge faster because it can move faster and eaiser over a smooth surace..... the insides of the tippmann will be re made and produce to work effeciently at a pressure of 200 psi the rear hole is filled and the gun is cocked from the front....the shocktech bolt puts a o ring on the inside to reduce blowback...... any other Questions

Ah. Well if you know what you are doing, then go for it. Sounds like a good project. I did not know that you could get a 98 to run on 200 psi :crazy:
I guess if you got the spring strengths tweaked right, you could...

EDIT: I looked up the fatty stabilizer. You are right, my bad.

when you stiffen the drive spring it opens the valve more and gives it better flow increasing your fpsonce again you can lower the pressure

I'll look forward to seeing the finished product.

I have a Shocktech bolt that I'll let go if you want it. PM me if you're interested.
