Can someone describe the best way to oil the JT 4.0 marker?

I guess you're only supposed to oil the bolt area.. Does this mean disasembling the marker to clean and oil it? If so does someone know the standard way to effectively perform this task.

I guess I could just take the whole thing appart, but this is my first marker and I want to be sure it's well taken care of and that I dont mess anything up..

Thanks for your help! :D

I was in the same situation as you. I just got my marker and I didn't know how to do it. I sent a email to JT about it and they told me to call them.

The guy said to take out the bolt and striker and all that stuff. Put one drop of paintball gun oil on the o-rings. Oil the bolt and striker itself. DO NOT put oil through the regulator!

If you don't know how to take out the bolt here's how.
You take out that annoying little metal round thing.
Pull out the pin and keep your finger over the striker plug.
keep you can take out the striker plug, spring and rubber tube.
You now can just pull out your bolt.
When you put your bolt back in and reverse what you did.
You will need to pull your trigger when you put the bolt back in. Do that when you can't psuh the bolt in anymore.

All Done!

Anyone, please feel free to correct me.

Also, I think this should be a sticky because this question comes up a lot.

So you are saying that you only have to oil the bolt and striker o-rings and nothing else? Thats all I have oiled so far... It sounds to easy to be true!

This gun sounds too easy to be true a lot of the time, that's why it's so great, and the people who have no idea about them always diss them. They think they're newbie guns. Even though a newbie can handle them, I think they could be tourney level guns.

Yeah I know. Why would people call this a "newbie" gun? Its a very good gun stock and probably a very sweet gun upgraded.

Any of you people that read this post, don't go dissing the JT unless you've had multiple occasions where it screwed up on you. Don't just go by hearsay, cuz it might be just the right gun for you, or a newbie. And, newbies, I'm just standing up for us, I've only been playin for about 6 months, so I could still be considered a newbie. I had about enough when I wrote my article to APG. It's in the Feb. 2002 issue called "Nice Try, Man!"

yea just the orings need oiled, dont put oil through the air adapter. easy to do since you should take the bolt out to cleant it after a day of playing anyway.. just 1 small drop of oil per o-ring..
