My friend bought a BKO with many a things on it, and was happy that he finally had a paintball marker, and talked about "Mowing us all down"...Well, comes time for the next walk on, and, he doesn't show. "Huh?" We all think, wondering why he never came, even though it would have been his first game with his new marker.

Well, afterwards, I call him up, and ask where he was.. He explains to me that he didn't have enough money to play..I said, "But, uh, you had enough money to buy the BKO...Didn't you plan on actually using it?" He responds, "Well, probably not until September..This gun cost a lot of money"..I say bye, and sort of laugh.. I, myself, have a Spyder Imagine, and I am happy with it. Now, he may have a better marker, but I would rather be me. I mean, what is the freaking point of buying a marker if you can't afford to use it?

I frequent the low-end electronics forums(When I'm actually on PBR anymore)..And basically all of the threads are, "What gun?" threads, and these people have certain amounts of money, and people suggest what they should buy..Most of the time, people say the most expensive setup within the given price range, and the person thinks this is just a great idea.

Most of the time, the person doesn't take into account the price of playing, so they will be stuck at home with a nice marker that they cannot use, so it goes to waste.

If I answer a thread like that, I usually tell them to go with a Spyder Imagine, basically, because it's a cheap marker that works. Most of the people who post these threads have never played and just want to show off to their friends.

I had to get that off of my chest.

I wouldn't say he's stupid. He probobly followed everyones advice to "buy a better gun."

I'm glad I went with a pilot as a first gun, everyone was egging me on to get an ion (back when they were 350 canadian, god our dollar sucks.) If I had, I wouldn't have been able to play for awhile.

Alot of people don't take into account the costs of playing beyond the price of the gun. One of the best hobbies/sports out there, but can also be one of the most expensive.

Free entry and Air, byop or $28 cases. And that's 2 fields.

Anyways, yes you have to budget yourself. Don't spend all your money on a gun, or all you'll end up with is an expensive centerpiece. You have to budget in a hopper, air, paint, entry, mask, etc.

I get by fine, and I essentially started from square one (new gun, hopper, and tank).

You may all hate me for this, but I got a free stock class phantom from my uncle when I started playing.

Well, it's his money, he can do what he wishes with it.

I know what you mean... half the people who talk about getting a new gun dont even think about air, paint, or field costs.
