My friend wants to replace his maxflo tank with a regular tank. I know he will need to change his Gas through grip to a regulator. Does this need to be a HP Regulator, and will a stock ion reg work for now?

Well I certainly wouldn't use a stock Ion regulator. Wait for awhile, then proceed to put on a stock vertical max-flo or any comparable regulator. The Ion regulator will work, however, if you are just doing a ghetto fix.

You have to add a duckbill for your tank, route the macroline to a regulator that will regulate 850 PSI down to 200-ish, and have it all in tightly.

you'll need a vertical adapter in order to use a normal inline reg. The gas-through grip screws into a 1/8" hole in the body..the vertical adapter lets you use attach a normal reg to the gun.
