I was trying to make a 3 man team for local beginners level tournies. Would you encourage me to enter with 2 stock xtras with only a teardrop barrel, and 1 stock 98c? I know its the skill that matters, we're all good have beat an angle) but would we have a chance?

We've never seen you play, we don't know.

ok well on our first day, us 3 beat a team with and angle, autococker, and some other high end gun. Also what r some strategies we could use?

It's the gun that makes the player. Sure you should enter it. It will give you more skill and expirence.

You need to pass school before you enter a tourney.

Well "Poopman", if your team can take on the more experienced players, why not?

Everyone starts somewhere. people who have money and buy high end markers and gear before they really even play for serious miss the whole "noob" experience.

Enter it. Just remember no one cares if you "beat an Angel". There's plenty of people that suck walking around with Angels. Tell me you beat Max Lundquivst and I'll give you some credit.

if it was me i would actually wait till i got better cuz i wouldnt want to pay the entrance fee and then lose, its expensive, but then again what isnt expensive in paintball

I would certainly encourage you to play the tournament, Ebon is exactly correct in that it doesn't matter what "gun" you beat, it matters what players you can compete against. This you will only discover by playing tourneys. you will find that folks play much different when they are playing rec ball (trying out new moves and tactics) versus how they play when they are trying to win a tournament.

The player was a marine, and hes a regular player at the feild (plays like 1-4 times a month)

I think it was just a typo, he meant that the gun doesnt make the player.

if thats a typo, its the single worst typo i have ever seen, since putting it that way would make sense .

ALL skill... 1 shot to hit somone... just be sneaky thats what i did my first game in speed ball when i was using my 98.. remeber 10 bps with a semi dont sound fast but think of 10 balls every second flying at u... but then think of 31 flying at u... DOH!

Being a marine does not make you a good speedballer. And 1-4 times a month is not a "regular". It's a weekend rec baller. A "Regular" is down thre twice a week, once for play, once for practice.
Again, nothing amazing to see here folks.
Actually, most military people I've played against are...for the lack of a better word...terrible speedballers. They play an entirely different game, or at least try to and use tactics that would work well in real life, but not so well in speedball. This is not a 100% thing, but I've noticed good military ballers tend to be the exception more than the rule.

Do me a favor: save your money and buy a dictionary...
Anyway...go out and play, you won't know how you'll do until you try. If anything you'll go out there and have a great time, and you'll learn a lot of things to improve on. My first tournament, my team had a couple spyders, 2 BKOs, and an 03 cocker. We only won one game, but we had a blast and learned a lot. 3 years later, we're the number 2 ranked team in the state (scpfoa).

That was a somewhat pointless post.
I say you should go for it. To a certain degree, it is mostly skill. Of course at some point you arent going to beat an equal skilled player with a blowback when they have a higher end gun. Just do the tournament, make sure you have some sort of team strategy, and if you like tournament play, practice and save for a better gun.

Go to the tourney. You gotta start sometime. Like everyone said: Guns don't matter, it's all skill, and the same ole stuff.

yeah, do it. most ppl get beat up their first tourny, so obviously play your best but you really shouldnt worry about how well you do. you gotta start out somewhere and its a great experience, so thats what you should be thinking about instead of whether you'll win or not. so if you have some basic skill, go ahead and enter regardless of what your equipment is. you'll get a better feel for what the competition is like and what you need to do to improve. and like some other ppl said, you shoot players out, not guns. focus on how good a PLAYER is when you shoot him or get shot by him, not what gun he's shooting. I've known guys who have spent tons of money on their guns and gear because thats what their hobby is, but they aren't nessessarily that good and usually dont play anything other than rec ball and the occasional local 3-man like the one you're entering, so some of those guys you shouldn't be too worried about.
