What do you have on your gun so far?

nothing but a upgrade barrel

Well the barrel would have been the first thing but you have that already. The next upgrade you would want to get is maybe an HPA (nitro) tank. You might want to consider buying a fiber wrapped one because they are much lighter and can handle more pressure. I'll list the advantages below:

HPA-
1. Regulates air flow into your gun so you do not get velocity spikes. Better consistancy.
2. As you might have noticed, if you fire your gun fast with CO2 your gun will get very cold. If you keep firing there is a possibility that you will damage the o-rings on the inside of your gun.
3. With HPA you can play all year since HPA does not condense like CO2.

As you will see, HPA tanks are not cheap. But it is well worth the money. Most people will tell you to stay away from PMI Pure Energy tanks. They have had problems with leaks. I have one and have not had a problem yet. Your best bet is to go with a Crossfire tank. They are high quality affordable tanks. HPA tanks are not measured in ounces (oz) like CO2. They are measured in cubic inches (ci). The general rule for figuring out how many shots you would get is:

-4500 psi tanks -- 15 shots per cubic inch.
-3000 psi tanks -- 10 shots per ci.

That is a very rough estimate however. Those are not very accurate but do give you some idea.

Before I give you my next upgrade idea I need to know if the M98 accepts the E-Grip. Anyone know?

If its a 98 and not a 98 custom it wont take a e-grip. If its a custom. I think the ss# has to be 893000 and above.

Any gun can run HPA on it except the C-3 which runs on propane.

There used to be a thing with tippmann where you trade in your model 98 and for like 70 or so bucks they'll exchange it for a 98c with a response trigger. I dont know if they still do this but if you have a model 98 and they still do I would do it. That or sell your model 98 and buy a new 98c. Model 98's aren't very upgradeable(at least in the firepower department)

Only the tippmann custom pro can use the e-grip. Here is a list of great upgrades

1. Shocktech superfly bolt. Precision machine turned from self-lubricating delrin plastic. Lightweight, yet strong and extremely durable. An external o-ring to help seal and minimize blow back. But more importantly an internal o-ring to seal against the Power Tube. Allowing for a more consistent acceleration of the paintball. $20.00

2. Tippmann Expasion Chamber. Expands liquid CO2 into a gas before it enters your gun. Helps prevent freezing in the winter and will get a ton more shots out of your tank in the warmer months and improves accuracy. $60.00

These work great,

The new 98c's can use the custom pro egrip.

Don't get a new bolt. They're a waste on tippmanns imo(and pretty much everyone elses opinion)

Don't get an x chamber. Just anti siphon your co2 tanks(like $4.00 dollars plus however much it cost to get it installed which shouldn't be much)

Yes, new 98's can accept E-Grips. I thank Tippmann for that. That was a smart move. I agree with Sullivan up there about the bolt and X-Chamber. You might want to get a new 98c. They have many more upgrades for that.

Oh, so after those 3000 threads about what hopper to get you didnt get one? And The M98 Can be faster than the 98c if you plop a E-Bolt in it with a DM Board. Just a little milling needed for the Hose...
