I wasn't really sure whether this would go here or in the Stolen Equipment forum, but seeing as nothing was actually stolen, I decided for here.
So, I've got my Spyder Victor. I put quite a bit of cash into upgrades, but it's still a Spyder Victor nonetheless. I saw some of the stuff on the Stolen Equipment board, a lot of stuff about stolen markers and how to safeguard your equipment from being stolen, but that raised a question. What are the odds that at a paintball event of some sort, a thief would decide to steal a marker that's as low end as mine?

what ever people can steal and sell off for cash they will steal it.

You would be surprised what a thief will take. Anything that can be sold for some cash is up for grabs. Even if the profit isn't huge, it doesn't really matter since they never bought the stuff in the first place.
I would definitely use some of the ideas suggested in the Stolen Equipment forum. I've personally seen people using bike locks to keep their bags secured to a tree.

good idea, i also use a little gun lock kinda thing to keep my bag closed, but they could still just cut open the bag..

Wow... Maybe I should be more careful. In the Stageing area, I just leave My Ion sitting there and tell someone to watch it while I go get air refills... And I Just ask someone who I played with to keep an Eye on it...
Most people who steal on a regular basis aren't out to screw people over, its the rush they get from stealing, a high for them. So if you catch em, end their high buy kicking them in the junk as hard as you possibly can.

If your at a tourney get a runner or a younger player or a kid to watch your equipment for you. I guarentee he will be more than happy to keep an eye on it. Then as a reward let him shoot a few paintballs out of your gun and he will be the happiest kid around. If its at a paintball place, not a tourney, try to put your stuff in a locker if they have them or keep them in your bag and ask someone to watch it for you.

If they've already decided to steal it, it makes little difference how much it's worth. If I could steal a shocker or your spyder (and wanted to sell it) I'd pick the easiest one. Esspecially if the theif doesn't now which is better.

of course, u have to realize that a cheaper gun isnt always the easiest target. im sure alot of thieves try to get the more expensive looking one.

While the expensive guns are worth more, the lower end guns usually dont have serial numbers, making it near impossible to track, or report as stolen. If I said I had my Red Spyder Compact stolen, I would probably never get it back, but if I told you my Black '03 Superstock Autococker Serial Number 12345 was stolen you can confirm it is the right one, before accusing someone.

at any event i never part with my marker, don;t matter which one i have on me, i walk wit it, i play with it i goto the bathroom with it (once i was zipping my pants and accidentally pressed the trigger and the gun was on with burst fire selected, and I let to about 3 - 4 bursts on the ground and my feet, made guys in the stalls jump out really fast) :) but i notice people just carelesslly leavy things behinds like pods, tools, hoppers, golves. I have about 5 pods which I found (yeas really found abandoned at the pickick area), some gloves, found 1 tippman repair kit and one spring kit with noone in sight. I just keep all that stuff in the car.
