If you want to play speedball I suggest a refurbished imagine from pbgear.com for $64. If you want to play woodsball I suggest a tippmann.

Refurbished lmagine like di$TOrTed said, an Ion is usually 180-200(if you do plz don't become another Ion noob that thinks he can outgun Bob Longs and Angels). for 50 more you could maybe get a refurbished shocker. Or if you want to go Tippmann go A-5 or 98C Pro
Only issue with Ions is you can't use CO2 (unless its anti siphoned but thats still not recommended) so your going to need to spennd extra to get a N2/HPA tank. You can get a cheap one for like 50.
For that price either go with a kingman pilot or a tippman such as the 98 custom. If you can spend a little more the io is great and listen to thte guy dont be a noob who thinks he owns gun isnt everything almost everyone with the bery expensive guns are very experienced. The Ion will be at a higher price if you are looking to make it work to its potential though. You can get it for a little over 200 if you get a heavy steel nitro tank a gravity and a gravity fed hopper. I dont reccomend getting the ion unless your willing to get all the better parts though. My choice would be the pilot since it would be useful in both woodball and speedball and can run on co2 just fine. It will also be fine with a revolution hopper.

how good are you at working on your gun?? TIppmann 98c is great for someone who doesnt know much about fixing stuff. ANd they are very durable.
Do you already have a gun?? if so what are you hoping to upgrade too? I dont know how good they are but you could get a trillogy pro from action village for 139

A-5 pr 98C/Pro is the question. If you decide on a tippmann id take that question over to the tippmann forums. They are both very similar and very different at the same time. As for Spyders a Pilot or a Rodeo would be my recommendation. And as DLaC said unless you want to spend at least 70 extra dollars on a N2/HPA tank and new parts dont go with an Ion or shocker just yet. Remember u still need a mask and Hopper (2 most important things in paintball).

well when i said i need a gun, i ment a woodsball gun. ive got enough barrels and wire spools to have a redneck paintball field (which is what im gona make). and it ive heard good things about tippmanns. my cousin has a model 98 with an armson stealth rifled barell. and i was usin stingray and i lost every time played. (the stingray was my cousin's)

i guess it all depends im mainly speed ball but i play my fair share of woods ball and i have played with a stock 98/a-5 and a dressed 98/a-5 i love the speed and accuracy with the a-5 but i like the 98 better because its lighter and you can make it muh faster...

yup A-5 is heavier but more accurate and 98C is lighter and a LITTLE less accurate. The 98C/Pro is a nice cross between the two.

Eh I'm not a big fan of Tippmann's. They can take a beating and they're easy to work on but I think they're kinda over-priced. Then again so are some Spyder's. Also don't believe everything they say on Spec-Ops. I did and sounded like a moron. I'll list good beginner guns under $200 using actionvillage.
Spyder's
Spyder Semi-autos-
Spyder Sonix-$65
Spyder Xtra-$85
Spyder MR1-$100
Spyder Victor II-$65
Spyder Electric-
Spyder Imagine-$63
Spyder Pilot ACS-$108
Spyder MR2-$190
Tippmann's
Tippmann 98 Custom-$140
Tippmann 98 Custom Response Trigger-$180
Tippmann Custom Pro-$180
Tippmann Model 98-$125 (older version of 98 custom)
Tippmann Pro Carbine-$140
Tippmann A-5-$170 (refurbished)
BT (similar to Tippmann)
BT-16-$105
BT-4 Combat-$130
Those are all good entry level markers that will hold up for a long time and are reasonably priced and perform good. Now you gotta maintain them or else I don't care if its the strongest built marker in the world if you don't lube it, and clean it before and after every game then it will turn into junk.

the MR3, Tippmann A5/98c, or MR1. If your friends allow you to have full auto (i believe you said this would be a course at your house or w/e) then get an MR3. But get a tippmann if your lazy like me and dont want to have to do alot of maintenece on your gun. My a-5 i got used for $100 but i got a steal. you can find a 98c anywhere from 60-200 dollars depending on the ups. Or a refurb imagine of pbgear.com my friend uses that in woodball and it works fine for him. just a little bit easier to see

ya but MR3 has eyes
eyes = insane whether you can out shoot it or not would you want to accidentally break in the chamber pinch a ball and ruin your game...etc? If your going with the MR series GO WITH MR3 AND ITS VISION YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Well if you want woodsball get a Tippy A-5, 98C or 98C Pro. If you get a 98 or 98C Pro make sure it has ACT its worth the extra couple dollars.
