alright, i need a wee bit o' help! okay, i was looking at tippmannparts.com, and i saw the APE rampage board, and was wondering, one, can i buy it and straight upgrade it to mi a-5, or do i gotta have a egrip handle for it (without w.a.s, i can find them) and 2, is it better than the w.a.s. board?

I'm actually wondering that myself.
I know that you would need an armature pin, but I can probably weasel one out of tippmann or A.P.E.
What I don't know is whether or not you need new grip halves, and I'm especially puzzled since I visited tippmannparts.com and saw that they only offer one kind of grip for the A-5.

Don't quote me on this, but I think you need new grip halves, an armature pin, e-grip sear, and the Rampage of course.

Spys right as far as I know. I think you need a solenoid too? Not sure about that one though. Yes you do need to get the halves, armature pin, sear...

The solenoid is included if you buy it with the Rampage w/solenoid package. However you can buy the Rampage without the solenoid too of course.

The rampage is better on batteries, has a more powerful solenoid, has better programmable modes, and people have not reported then randomly failing like the WAS.

You're still going to need the correct sear/trigger assembly [the e-grip takes a different sear than the mechanical trigger].

W.a.s > ape rampage..... you wont use any of the other modes you would find on the ape. the w.a.s is faster then the ape. and ive never heard anything about then failing. the only good part about the ape board is that its water proof.

Yeah, but who needs 30 bps though? Plus you can only do that with a Q-Loader. The APE Rampage is probably better.

its not about hitting 30bps... WAS is better overall... APE users have complained about turning it off by mistake mid game... that doesnt happen on WAS boards.... i also read somewhere (may be wrong) that APE boards arent tourney legal because you dont need tools to change settings....

Not tourney legal? That must be why some of the tippmann effect guys use them. You can just remove the little button thing and have it work just like a WAS.
I would definitely have to go with the board that is waterproof, gets 3x the number of shots from a battery, has more, programmable modes, and is not reported to ramdomly fail; maybe that's just me going and choosing a product just because it's superior though :dodgy:

It's tourney legal everywhere, NPPL, NXS, whatever. I'm thinking about changing to it. Can someone explain how you change the firing modes with the APE?

I think you just have to push a little button and watch for the LED to blink.

Not to say that the W.A.S. is better, which it isn't, but the "waterproofing" is worthless on the Rampage. Also 3X battery life seems to be a huge stretch to me. I know the has longer battery life, but not by that much.
ycfan456: I would just keep the W.A.S. for now. I really don't think the minor added features of the Rampage are worth wasting money on.
