View Full Version : adding porting to a barrel

I have a trracer pump and I want to put a few porting holes into the barrel to increase accuracy and reduce some sound. It's currently just a straight tube with no porting, so I want to just add a few holes, maybe 4 or so (is this a good number?) to the end. What warnings would you give about doing this and potentially ruining something? Also, how would I clean up the inside of the barrel as I assume there will be burrs left from drilling. Has anyone else done this before?

My guess is it will be as simple as drilling it through the barrel. To clean, just run through water, then dry.

Before you run it out with water, I suggest removing any debris stuck on the bottom of the hole (in the barrel). Otherwise those little pieces will make you break paintballs almost every shot. If you dont know what Im talking about just say so and I can try to explain it better. :)

i understand there will be stuff left sticking out, that was what I meant by when I referred to "burrs". I'm wondernig what a good way of removing the excess would be withought removing the polish and anodizing on the inside of the barrel.

How would porting help increase accuracy? If you were to make a lot of tiny ports at the last inch and a half of the barrel you could use sand paper by hand and work your way from medium to super fine grit.

Porting won't do much but just don't do it hastily because you will wreck your barrel.

y dont u just buy a barrel. i garuntee it will be worth the money over anything you could put together. no offense. plus, the risk of ruining your barrel is high enough to just go out and buy one anyway.
