Just wondering how pbs feel about having a separate division for girls to help the sport grow faster among fairer sex?
They can of course always still compete amongst the guys...
We're testing it out soon during our event in Malaysia.....thoughts?

If you can get the teams to warrant a separate division, very cool. I have a hunch that the low numbers of women in the sport will make this harder to do in the states.

I don't think paintball is physically intensive enough to really warrant seperate divisions. Guys can generally run a little faster, which gives them an edge, (although I guess girls usually make smaller targets) but everyone's markers still shoot the same velocity, still have the same BPS. It's not a game where size and strength give an advantage.

By the way, I know I made generalizations that aren't always true. I know some women are larger and faster than some men, but on average, on a general basis, they're true.

If the people at your tournament think seperate divisions are a good idea, though, then go for it.

Like Lopez said, there's usually not enough girls playing to warrant their own division. It would be cool to see, though.

I think seperating the divisions would be a bad thing thing. If they're good enough to play on a pro level then they're good enough to play with the guys. And some of the girls that play anyway are hotties, I wouldn't mind getting shot by them.

That's like saying...why have a PGA and a WGPA. Golf isn't very physically intensive. But if women want to play against only women, so be it. If they want to play against men, let them play in the PGA.

If you have enough players to great an all-female division, I say, go for it.

Golf is different though becasue a man on average can swing his club harder which gives him a longer drive. Thats why when its time to Tee off there is a spot for men to start and a spot for women

Even if there are enough players and teams, I dont think you should. Women are just as capable of playing with the guys in this sport. They should be treated as equals.

It would be interesting for you to try it out and report feedback from men and women in the tourneys.

As for separate divisions, there are in all sports, so you might as well not stop at paintball.

Oink Oink.

I think if girls wanted their own division enough to warrant having one, we'd have known about it by now. I don't think it's the guy's place to decide. "Oh, here ya go, we know you're probably tired of playing GUYS so we started and entered you into your own division."

QFT.

From what I can see, most women enjoy the fact this sport is so integrated that they can compete with men on the same field without any distinct advantages or disadvantages. They play as equals. However, I think more players should treat them as such, rather than give them special treatment, positive or negative.
My wife was kinda irked when a local field stated that the surrender rule was 10 feet for males and 20 feet for females. She doesn't want to be singled out and exempted from rules for her gender. She advised everyone else that if she got within 10 feet of them, she'd shoot them, so she advised them to do the same to her.

So nice that you and your same sex life partner like to be treated as equals, Ebon. I'm very proud of you. ;)

Ha, that's a good point Ebon. I would like to here what a female says about this separate division dilemma...

I think almost any woman who plays seriously will take this as an insult to even be mentioned (note Tweeters reaction). There is no need for a seperate division for women. They can compete in this sport just as well, if not better than most men can. I know that Lisa Harvey, or Keely Watson could take me easily. This sport hasnt had a gender bias yet, why would you want to change it and be like every other sport (aside from most extreme sports like skateboarding, etc). Isnt that something that we have to seperate us from other sports; the fact that you can be of any size, shape, gender, or skin color and compete just as well as the guy or girl next to you. We should be proud to be able to have men and women compete in the same sport and be able to challenge each other.
