I'm a newbie to paintball, so I decided to get a gun. I figured I go cheap first off so I bought a Talon at a paintball store. Even though my friend's have a tippmann 98 and an avenger, they're newbies too so I feel I have a pretty good chance to kick their @@@ the first couple of times we play. or atleast until they get better...lol

My first gun was a StingRay. I added some parts to it and it worked okay. There is one thing I will say about the Talon. The only place I have ever been shot by a Talon was in the back. But that was okay because they had to crawl a long distance without me seeing them and I was the lay down the paint man on our team and nobody covered me while I was covering them.
Good luck and enjoy paintball.

When you start with a pump, typically you suck against semi's, then do well. That's the story with me. I started with the pump gun that's a step up from the talon, known as the tigershark. I often laugh at the pictures from my first few outings at a rec field. Most of them were from the in politically correct terms "Tagged Box" or as we more commonly term it the "Dead Box"

Then, I started getting good. I gained an instinct that you can only get playing on a pump or a double-action semi. That instinct is the one to avoid toe-to-toe battles. Run away, hit the other guy with tactical maneuvers. It's instinct. Burned into my brain. Now that I've upgraded my tigershark to a semi, and upgraded to an armson stealth barrel, I'm even deadlier. What makes me so deadly is the instinct that you get with a pump gun. I've gained the reputation of a snake at the local paintball field. When you do see me, it's crawling on the ground, after you've been bitten if you are not careful. The experienced players warn the newbies about me, even though I target the largest threat and work my way down.

Another thing that I cant stretch enough is warm up before you play. I dont mean with your gun, I mean stretch. I pulled a muscle on a large cross-ditch leap that I made on a flag run. It hurts like a *****.

Oh, I'm not bragging about the whole reputation thing. I'd rather have the reputation of a jaguar, but I'm too damn fat :)

well, it's nice to know you are man enough to admit you have been hit by a talon:laugh:

But anyway, if you can take your friends out with that talon, that'd be awesome. Just remember, it's about the skill.

My first gun was a talon, at first against semis I too sucked, but after a little while I sucked, but not as bad. I actually got a couple of semi kills a day. The talon, as a starting gun, teaches you to use positioning, cover and tactics much more effectively than starting with a semi does. The people that I play with that started on Talons often are more fearless and play better paintball than those that started by sitting and throwing paint from a semi. I think it made me more of a semi-front player, but sometimes its hard to get really close in woods ball, which I almost exclusively play.

sorry but if you play with BE you dont know paintball. Good luck with the talon, they dont shot strait, but they do have auto trigger.

pump guns make you a better player
so get good and you be the best when you get high end semis

I agree, pumps allow you to learn how to better hone your skills, but all the talon teaches you is that you'd be better off throwing paintballs at them.

sounds like your quite the sniper.......

i really dont think pumps teach you anything, you can argue it but what really teaches you stuff is a entry lvl semi because when i first got my 98c 2 years ago i did **** but i had to get closer to get people out so i got less afraid of being hit by paintballs or rushing

im not going to say how good i am or how know i am at my field for being a ..........boa constricter.....

good luck playing paintball i hope you have a good itme
