View Full Version : Velocity problems

When I go out with my nitro tank screwed in, I can only hit 250 fps with the velocity adjustment screwed out to the point where it is sticking out of the reciever. When I screw in my CO2 I hit about 300 fps. My nitrogen tank is preset at 850 psi, yeah, as cheap as they come. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it (if I can) will be helpful.

Ok, what is the temperature outside? And what does the guage on the air tank say (what psi)?

I have shot when the tank was at a variety of pressures. Up to 3,000 and as low as where it won't recock the gun, and all with no better results. As for temperature, around 50 degrees, if not less.

I had the same problem with mine. My nitro tank is preset to 800 PSI.

But the problem was due to the spring that I had in it being cut when I was using CO2, the velocity wouldn't go below 300 PSI, so I bought a new stock spring and replaced it and now it works ok.

Need more info. What all do you have on your gun? What ASA do you have? Some ASAs don't work well with screw in nitro tanks you might try getting an on/off type ASA.

Could be the x-chamber is too restrictive. I had to get a gas through grip to replace my x-chamber when I got HPA becuause my RT would barely work. I guess HPA does not flow as well as Co2.

Mota might be right. Make sure that your drive spring is not weakened and that there is adequate flow for air going into the marker.

The drive spring should not be weakened and air flow should be OK, I take good care of my gun and it still shoots a desired velocity with C02. The expansion chamber being too restrictive sounds convincing. I was thinking it could be the expansion chamber but couldn't explain why until now. Thanks for the help guys. I was considering to get a regulator, and now I have even more of a motive to do so. If I still can't get my velocity up by then it might be the spring or air flow like Telefragged mentioned, and if not, you might hear from me again someday.
