Ion is a very good choice. Its fast with different modes like ramping, plus its very upgradable. You'll need to get a better for it like a CP 1 piece to make it more accurate. a promaster is also a good choice.

With that you can get a Ion. But you'll NEED a HPA tank for it. A/S CO2 works on the Ion but in the long run breaks the gun. You can pick up a good Crossfire 47ci/3000psi tank. Crossfire makes good tank regulators. Also for it too shoot fast you'll want a Halo B, Empire B, or Viewloader VLocity. The Halo B has bounce beam eyes (doesn't recognize all paint), the Empire B has sound activation (in noisy areas it might start feeding), and the Viewloader VLocity has break beam eyes (recognizes all types of paint but hopper is ugly looking). So its up to you on the hopper. Do you really want something that looks good or want something that performs really great. BTW they both all feed around at the same speed.

Ion is a pretty good gun stock. The barrel is actually pretty good. The things that are HIGHLY recommended to upgrade ASAP are the feedneck (pretty much a have to upgrade), QEV, on/off asa and trigger. Stock the Ion shoots fast, does not chop paint and is pretty accurate. As far as your loader, it will not cause you to chop paint, just will make your gun shoot slower. The eyes will prevent most chops and you can only shoot as fast as you loader can load.
Promaster is another good choice in the price range. Probably better than the Ion out of the box, but the Ion has more potential. The only downside to upgrading the Ion to its max potential is that you will endup spending as much money as it would have cost to buy a NIB highend.

The Ion is good enough stock. Upgrades people like to do are the 360 QEV, a new feedneck, a ASA, and a new trigger. Then most people do the regulator, the board in the gun because the stock one has only 4 firing modes and is capped at 17BPS in semi auto mode, they also do the bolt, maybe some laser beam eyes just for cosmetics, the barrel, the trigger frame, and the body. Pretty much that's all I can think of that you could do to the Ion.
