Hi all,
I have a Tippmann Custom Pro R/T with a 14" J&J Ceramic.

Got a question, I went out to play today. When I got there I chronoed my marker and had it shooting consistantly between 294-298 FPS.
After a couple rounds of airball I noticed my balls were not even carrying 3/4 the distance of the field. I figured I was low on air even though the gauge was reading 1800 PSI, I know the R/T's can be a bit of an air hog. I got a refill and went back to the chrono and was shooting in the low 220's.
One thing I noticed is the velocity adjustment screw has very little to no resistance when I turn it and it seems like it would not take much for it to vibrate and change it's position.

Is this a common problem with Tippmanns and is there anything I can do to help it hold velocity better?

Thanks,

Cpt. Morgan

Velocity screws jump around. You gotta compensate after a few games. Also as you get lower on air, you prolly will want to back your velocity screw out a bit and rechrono

How about if I a single wrap of electrical tape around the threads?
I believe it may help hold the screw in position but I don't know what it would do to my valve.

Or would it be better to get a rear velocity adjuster since (like you said) It is going to fall off as air gets lower?

Just for the record r/t doesn't use extra air it uses waste air that usually is just discharged.

I dislike RVA's. I'd just learn to live with the screw moving around. If you really dislike it and want extra consistancy, get a reg.

If the velocity screw is coming loose and moving in, just use a wrap of teflon tape to shore it up. It won't hurt anything.
