They have a field at Thunderbay called Heartbreak Ridge. It's an earthen bunker about (just guessing) 100 feet long. has a lot of scrub brush and palmettos growing on top of it, also several trees. In the middle is The Flag for capture the flag games. If you're defending it's a cake walk because you're so dug in that the advancing team can't get a clean shot at you. And getting the flag can be a real challenge.
Several times before I was on the advancing team and the best strategy that anyone could come up with was "you guys go left, you guys go right and the rest go up the middle."It was a turkey shoot.
Finally, someone had a great idea that we'd send larger squads to the ends of the bunkers. just trying to pick off the guys on the ends, causing the people guarding the flag to have to readjust. The best part was that we all decided that we'd hold out until the last 30 seconds of the game. When the ref announced 30 seconds left, we all came out of cover and rushed the bunker. One crazy guy ran full bore toward the flag, dove for it and grabbed it without being hit. Super win. :eek:
