If I dont have an on/off is it still ok to just screw my tank in? On the older models, didnt they fix the problem with the ASA's having a long pin? Should I just use the o-ring trick?

i'd use the o-ring trick. In my experience, it works all the time, and while i have heard that they fixed the long ASA problem on newer models, (you did mean newer, right?) trying to use a regular pin valve tank hasnt worked yet - my friend has an imp w/ a serial number in the 11,000's, and he still has to use the o-ring trick. But then again, i have not tried that many different new impulses, so i could be wrong.

The Max Flow needs to be gassed up slowly to prevent leaking/damage. The easiest way to do this is with an on/off valve. If you use a screw in HPA tank you should buy an ASA with an on/off. That will allow you to gas up your gun correctly.

If you use co2 you can use either an on/off valve from a dropforward, or you can have an on/off installed directly on your tank. I would go with the tank version, and get an anti syphon tube intalled while you're getting the new valve. Your proshop should do this for you.

I have one of the newer imps (#10573) with a horizontal maxflo, and still do need to use the o-ring trick on mine.

Im in the same situation as impy though, i do not have an on/off installed on my imp. Does anyone have any helpful hints on which one (if any in particular) would suit me and my imp the best?

They all work the same, many companies make them.

Find one you think looks good, and buy it.

Yea ive never had any problems using the o ring trick.
Just be careful when you do remove your tank from the maxflo, the small amount of pressure still in the reg. tends to send the o ring flying.

I just got my impulse and i use a normal 20 and 14. My normal 9 doesn't work. So i guess the new ones do work good with normal tanks

Just place a single o-ring on the inside of your ASA.
Then just screw in the tank, and presto, your good to go.
