I am considering giving up playing paintball because it costs so much to play at a commercial paintball field. I don't know anyone near me to play locally on some random piece of property. So I have to drive and hour to get to the field, pay $7 field fee + $7 bring-your-own-paint fee + $4 twenty oz Co2= $18 WITHOUT ANY PAINT. Then on top of that I pay about $25 for a 1000 rounds of paint, the amount of paint needed to play for a decent amount of time and be competitive with other kids that blew all their cash of paint. My parents don't give me cash and the money comes from my $7 per hour job plus my car & gas. Paintball would be cool if I just had some people to play with locally and everyone had crappy guns or pumps so we wouldn't have to spend alot on paint. yo

A day of paintball for me:
field fee - $15
case of hellfire - $70
all day N2 fill - $10
bunkering a member of Phoenix Heat (1st place pan am amature - priceless
dont even complain man.
I am in college and I manage to do this everyother weekend.
paintball isnt expensive
if you want to get better, you need to practice, if you want to practice you need to pay money.
(those prices dont include the some odd 2.5K I have spent on total paintball gear: Matrix, cocker, spyder, freak, nitro tank, various upgrades, jersey, pants, gloves, 2 masks, beanie, ricochet 2k, redz bag, 2 redz packs, dozens of pods, tools, etc)
(ohh.. and soon to come an IR3 and Angel AIR... another 2k)
the majority of this is payed for by myself....
I am just dedicated to the sport.
you need to be too, and not quit because of money issues

I play at the sweet ***** outlaw fields that we make. We have like 3 different fields, one of them is almost 20 acres. I only pay about 50 bucks for a case of Proball or nel-splat and 5 bucks for Co2 I usually use 500 a day, I limit myself to half a hopper always(sharpens your skills and saves money) though I do use a whole lot more at touneys. These fields are quality too. mine has about 30-odd bunkers and plenty of oak trees. IT's nice too cuz we usaully play with about 15+ people.

The reason prices are so high because you need them. You can't play paintball without paint. But I still hope paint prices will go down.

Paintball is just a materialistic joke that leaves you paying $50-$100 dollars per outing AFTER you have bought all of your equipment. And that still leaves you craving for better paintball equipment and accessories. I guess if you have that kind of money to spend it's cool, but for most people, me included, it's just one big money hole that gives you a few thrills and bruises to talk about. yo

When I lived in Texas, I used to work at a paintball field
beat this: (my senior year in high school)
field fee - free
nitro - free
case of inferno - $30 (we got for just about dealers invoice)
case lasted me maybe a weekend worth of team practice and recball.... thats $30 a week to play.
I made about 100 a weekend working at the field.
that ends up $70 profit of a weekend of reffing and playing.
(friday nights, saturday all day, sunday all day)
BEAT THAT!!!!!!!!!!
Field paint only places can easily run you 5$/100 paintballs! That is pretty steep.

For me:
Park admission: $10
All day air: $8
Case o' paint: $64
Gas to get there and back: $5
--------------------------------
Total: $87
I make only $5 an hour, but I work 4 hours a day. So I could actually afford to play every weekend if I so desired. But I don't.

I have a question... for you guys who buy 1000 rds paint, why would you get an all day refill, when a 20 oz. can almost shoot 1000 rds, and 2 12 ozs definitely will last? it seems as though the all day refill is about the price of 2 20 oz. refills here.

I never go to fields. I can play for fairly cheap.
Paintballs - $15 for 500
CO2- $3.15
field fee: $5
all day air:$5
500 paintball: $20
its not too much but im in 6th grade and all my income comes from a crappy papper route for about $3 an hour. i don't get paid by the hour cuz it would be illegal but i get 4 cents for each paper i deliver anyways to the cost i can afford to pay this every few weeks plus some other paintballs for small battles in my back yard a gun bunch of upgrades like $70 barrel and boo-yaah grip frame i can manage all this somehow even though i get an allowence of about $4 a week! its hard but i do it:nod:

At the field i play at is cheap if you shoot little paint
Rental= 5
Walkon= 5
PMI P Case= 140
The prices are in canadian. Your walkon includes unlimited gas. I admit the paint is high but you can really go cheap if you shoot little. Also you can work off a membership in spring and it lowers the paint too.

a few suggestions for the whiney "it cost's to much" people
1. find something else to do
2. get a job
3. shop smart!!! soo many ways to save money, never buy less than a case,go in on multiple cases with your friends!!,when you buy in bulk you can get rec quality paint for as low as 30 a case
reasearch every field in your area, and the best deals on paint
if you buy from the same local dealer everytime and in bulk ,unless there a jerk youll get a break
4.season passes, instead of wasting money on crap save up and get as year pass, our fields year with air is 150.,unlimited play!
5. work at your local field,if you talk to the owners and go often
most fields will let you pick up a ref shift etc. to cover your play
use your head..
and as i said if you want to whine about it go get another hobbie

I really wanted to hear if people thought playing paintball is worth the price you have to pay to get a momentary adrenaline rush, a few bruises, and story or two. Not the specific prices you pay for paint or field fees. Maybe I shouldn't have given my example of what I pay. yo

memories and good times are worth more than any monitary
amount, paintball for some of us is a lifestyle,we earn our livings, meet our wives, raise our children etc. in the paintball community, for many its not just a little adrenaline rush, its a huge wieght off your shoulders and stress relief at the end of a misrable work week,or a bday party or bacheolor party youll never forget
for me it means i get to spend time with my gf,wich i never see
because of work etc.
ill live off ramen and mac n cheese, because id rather die happy
and broke than misrable and rich
Frosty
02-22-2002, 03:23 PM
But if you were rich you wouldn't have to work, so you could spend time with your peeps which would make you happy. But if you were poor, you'd have to work your *** off to pay taxes....which would make you miserable :D

you guys are SUCH BABIES. go cry me a river man. i spend: 1)20(W/EQUIP)entrence 2)10-air(all day nitro) 3)(heres the mind blower) $100 for 2000 rounds, and we cant pick our paint either! thats over one weeks work! i work 2 weeks so i can enjoy 7 hours of paintball!
but, on the other hand. i enjoy it more then anything. i mx, and thats not as much as a rush. so i think its worth it.
when u spend 130 bux to play paintball come cry with me.(by the way the field is incredable):D

You could always start a team, and get sponsered....
Hey its worth a shot right?
spazdr
02-23-2002, 09:13 PM
Sounds like a great idea, but the amount of money that you spend on paint, gas, field fees, and good equipment in the process of getting good and having a good team worthy of sponsership will cost far more then a couple cases of paint and a jersey that the sponser might give to you, and few teams actually have full sponsership for hotels and all the money you spend going to a tournement. Sorry to burst your bubble. But if you want to spend all of your money and max out a couple of credit cards trying to get sponsered so you might get a discount on paintballs... go for it.

I play outlaw and here is what it cost me.
25-35 dollars for 500 rounds. (I usually shoot between 200-450 per full day of play.)
and I can get my Co2 filled for $2.50
I play once or twice a month and I get $50.00 a month for my allowance. I bought all of my equipment with the money I made working at a local fast food restaurant.
Not too bad!
The only field near me charges $9.00 for 100 paintballs! now that is kinda expensive when I go and buy paintballs to play outlaw for half the price. And on top of that there is a $5.00 entry fee and the Co2 fills are $4.00.

Well dont feel bad about the prices of field prices. Due to bin ladin or what ever the hell his name is. I lost my job. Was making fairly good money at my job. Saving for a Angel or a Custom Autococker and what happens I get layed off and there is no money and I have to use the money for other things like bills and crap. And to top it all off I'm married to someone that hates paintball. And doesn't understand that I need expensive gear. Be thankful you have a job. :pissed:

lol i thought about the cost for playing at my field when i first got into paintball, and i figured NOONE will be able to afford playing there. so-
i told everyone i know that would be interested in playing about how awesome paintball is, then convinced 10 ppl i know, and joined up with some people that already paintball from around here, and we go into the local woods and play every weekend now. watch how it works out-
for playing at the field-
15$ field pass
10$ all day air
15$ gun rental
110$ case of paint (not allowed to bring your own paint, and cant bring unused paint that you purchased from them)
=
150$ for just 1 day of paintball
for playing at local woods-
60$ case of paint off internet (which lasts around a 2 months)
6$ for air fill
= 6$ once you have paint, and your own gun (which everyone does)
