if you do it right it will work, but one problem is.. what will you do with the slot for the normal cocking knob? leave it open? if its open, then why nto just keep the normal knob on it? also.. what are you going to do with the kocking knob thats on the bolt? usualy a kit will come with a replacment so it doesnt stick out of the gun

if it does work then i will cut the cocking knob off and try to find some thing to cover it up with

it might work, but i'd just save up the money and buy the actual kit. that way you KNOW it's gonna work, and you dont have to cut up your spare parts.

While it would techniqually work, it would not be a good idea, and this is why.
First off, when you cock the gun, it would be sticking way out from the back, making it harder for you to get into a tight ball when hiding behind a bunker.
And secondly, as I attempted to show in the pic im attaching below, when you fire a 98, it uncocks as its fireing, and then it re-cocks, so you will have this big rod from the back of your gun going in, then shoot back out REALLY fast! And if the knob would hit you on the arm or somthing, it would probably hurt pretty bad.

wouldn't you rather just spend the 30 for the full bore and know that it will work without screwing anything up and drilling holes?

@ www.countypaintball.com you can buy just the cover for the side of the m98.. so if you do decide to make this mod, spend the money for the side bolt cover...
There is another way to make a rearcocker. Remove the inner bolt and replace it with a a "nut" (hardware stores make a nut that is on a larger washer) that you epoxy to the inner bolt as far forward as you can get it. Drill a hole in the center of the end cap the same diameter as a bolt that fits the nut. Use a spyder type spring that you put on the bolt before you screw it into the nut.
This is not my idea, I saw it on a post somewhere? I have it all set up I just haven't put it on a gun yet. The cost is less than $5. You would still need to buy a slot cover.
