Speed for a paintball gun is all relative. Your gun is fast when compared with Tippmann 98s, but is 'slow' when compared with Shockers or Angel Speeds. But for the sake of being on topic, yes, 13 pbs is fast when playing against Tippmann 98s.

unless the tippys are e-griped or RT.....

13 BPS to a Tippmann is equivlent to NXL to PSP. Yes, it's much faster than a Tippy, but in comparison to higher end guns, it's nothing.

how is it compared to nothing to shockers and other high ends? There is really only a 2-4 bps difference UNLESS you are ramping.

most people only walk a clean 13 BPS consistently

Let's see here, an average person can shoot 14 bps. I can shoot 15 bps, semi, no bounce, no ramping. 14 BPS compared to a mech Tippy that shoots 6-8 BPS. Sure is a difference of 2-4 BPS. If you have a 6 BPS cap on the other guy, you can keep him pinned down, and eventually bunker him. Faster is generally more useful.

what did you use to measure your BPS?

My friend's Ego. 100% accurate. You are aware Egos have 100% accurate BPS counters in thier programming...

13bps is kinda fast but you could have 50bps and not be accurate and it would do you no good. It only takes one shot to take someone out regardless of bps.

Not really, as a rate can be expressed in many different ways, and over varying lengths of time; the Ego will only present one such rate.

Wow, that sounds like a brag of doing +1 bps than the average baller.

Well it all depends. If the tournament you're playing has a 15 BPS cap I guess it wouldn't matter. But if its unlimited ROF tournament its slow compared to the other guys if they're getting around 17 BPS.

Oh yeah comparting to a tippy. But others where saying 13bps is slow compared to shockers and other high ends which it is really not.

13 bps is fast imo, because it is enough to keep someone pinned down, but it is nothing like others have said, when you are using ego or angels. But for the what you are using it for 13bps is lots, unless the tippmanns get egrips, or r/t's.

Its fast enough. I bet if you were in a tourney and shot 13 bps while everyone else shot 15 bps, you'd still be fine.

13bps is fast enough... and this whole compared to a tippy.... stock e-tippys can hit up to 30bps.... (not bragging about tippmanns... just pointing it out..)
i hit a consistant 14bps.... im fine with it... 13bps is fine as well... take a look at a team called the blowfish... pump team...

i shoot about 13-14 bps consistently, and it is perfectly fast. Im guessing your newer to the sport, chances are your not gonna be shooting 13 bps anyways

No, comaring to a Shocker or any other high end, and what it can do, in NXL, PSP, etc.

He is trying to compare the top bps of his gun as 13, to a tippmann which can shoot 5-6 bps stock. He's asking if that will allow him to shoot faster than his buddies that have 98C's. So to answer your question yes. While stock tippys can hit about 5-6 bps, 13bps is more than double that. Unless of course your friends had a Response Trigger, or E-Grip.

Yeah, stock Tippies are not as fast as that, and 13 BPS is pretty good, mostly you want speed to bunker people, and to give cover, otherwise it's your aim that matters. If you can't shoot straight, it doesn't matter how fast you are.

Sorry, just a clarification:
Is someone shooting a stock Tippy 98 at 13 bps? Maybe I read that wrong, but that doesn't even deserve a comment.
If not, whoops and I'll shut up and sneak my way out of this thread.
It only takes one well aimed shot to make someone duck,
It takes one precise shot to eliminate a player.

i can see the use for using fast shooting to keep someone down while you run up on them. they are less likely to pop up and see you when you're shooting 15 bps than 6 or 7. my egripped tippy can shoot ABOUT 12 or 13 on turbo mode(2 normal shots, and then one shot for each pull and release.) but i have an ion as my main gun now...so i should keep queit about the tippmann

IMO 13bps is fast enough

fast enough. if you work the lanes and the bunkers correctly 13bps is plenty.
Not really, as a rate can be expressed in many different ways, and over varying lengths of time; the Ego will only present one such rate.
You can select from two ROF display modes on the stock board.
Mode 1) It counts the actual number of pulls in any given second, then displays it.
Mode 2) Measures the time between individual pulls. Less accurate, but updates the display at a faster interval.
But yes, to the threadstarter: for the level it sounds like he'll be playing at, 13 should be fine.

Is 13 BPS fast...sure...but this is relative to what the circumstances are behind why you're shooting this. Against a bunch of rentals..it's overkill. In an X-Ball game, against higher end markers, then it's probably a bit slow.
BPS is an overused term to describe how markers fire but doesn't go into how the marker performs shooting at that speed. A spyder shooting 13bps, is going to be radically different than my Viking, Intimidators, an ego, PM, DM shooting that speed. Why? Because the other markers mentioned are of higher quality construction. In all likelihood the spyder willl be running off of CO2 and will not be as consistent and will kick more. This ends up being a less stable, less accurate 13 bps with a bad feel. Much like 100mph is going to be different in a Ford Focus as compared to a Ferrari, Maserati or Aston Martin. I've driven all 3 of those cars and had them all over 80 MPH...and they handle, perform and sound completely different than even my Lexus when you get them over 80-90mph.
BPS is all relative to what you're doing and trying to accomplish.

13bps is plenty fast. everyone is sooooo concerned about speed. It makes some difference but not much. You can not RUN through 13bps heck you cant run through 9bps. Even at 9bps the paintballs are about 11" apart. Hold that on the side of a bunker; if he comes out he is off to the dead box. Concern yourself more with learning to snap shoot accurately. Looking for lanes you can move in. Breakout stragety. That will make you a better player. Most tournies cap at 15-17 bps. Speed IS NOT EVERYTHING!

^^^ yea thats true too but there are to much factors in a markers speed.
13 bps is good for a front for toureny..But is this on a stock 98 or what?
The time playing doesnt matter becuase most of my team and friends that do play are about 10-12 years now and most hit 13-15.I've been playing for almost 12 years nows (dec.) I have been pulled becuase i shoot to fast. Avg 18 and if i want i might can get up to 20. NO bounce/ramping..Markers-E2 orry and 03 a friend Ego SL66 and a stock one my trix 04 lcd with the stock board and a 2k2 stock timmy. Spyder back in the day had 13 bps cap. the noid would stop or slow down when i shoot. that was with a lot upgrades. 200 round is gone in seconds with me.

I dont know my tippmann shoots 25 bps. But I only run it a 15. If yours shoots 13 and I turn mine up to 25 then yours is slow.
I play woodsball. Fire power rules. But 25 is way to fast. 13 to 15 is just fine.

i call shens on your *******.... i want a vid to see your 18bps :dodgy:
if you've been "playing" for as long as you have, im assuming that would mean that you are at least 20 years old, at which point you can actually write...

bout 5-6 bps with the gt and 6-8 with the sterling
