Hey I cant find out what gun to get people are saying to get the spyder compact2000 and upgrade it to a shutter other say to upgrade an spyder SE others say to get a tippmann 98.Well the thing I need help with is what do you think I should upgrade the SE or compact to be like a spyder I know how to solve the tippmann problem. How good can compacts come apart and are they durrable are Se's more durrable than them?I like the color of the SE but I want a cheap gun and I want to upgrade it to a spyder shutter, then ill compare a shutter with the tippmann. So relay people because I dont planning on buying many more guns for awhile.Thats why I want people to tell me.NO I DONT WANT ANY OTHER GUNS THERE CONFUSING!!!!

Id say go with the compact and buy the bottomline kit at the same time, that way you dont have to spend all your cash, then you can upgrade it to a sweet gun over time to spread out the cost. An exspensive gun is no good if you cant afford paintballs.

paintballer

how long do you think it would take and how much $?

ElectricHead

it all depends on how much you want to spend at once, and what upgrades you wanna get...

for the compact you can get upgrades like rear cocking bolt, beavertail, X-chamber, barrel (of course), drop forward, and about anything else you can think of, the question is do you want to get them all top o' the line

im willing to pay $180

ElectricHead

well with 800 you could get the gun (90), a drop forward w/bottomline kit (40), and a lapco bigshot barrel (50)

thats all off countypaintball, im not sure aboiut prices elsewhere

By the way, when you upgrade a compact 2K, you don't upgrade it to a shutter, you make it BETTER than a shutter. You can have a better barrel, better regulator, better valve, better drop foward, spring kit, and all this for about the same price than a shutter.

You might also want to think about getting a metal triger frame. I just don't trust plastic.

ToiletSiphon

Or a elcd frame, so you will turn your spyder into a electro gun. But thoses frames are expensive (240$).

i have to agree with toilet.. get the compact and upgrade it.. the upgrades u can get for it..it will blow the shutter out of the water.... i have a shutter and i love it.. but upgrades for the shutter are limited...(not all spyder parts work for the shutter)

What should I start out with?A boomstick?

paintballer
01-06-2001, 05:54 AM
I havent noticed that the compact doesnt have two handles.I dont think I want it like that.I like TWO handles.

MeWrOq

for $50 you can add a good quality expansion chamber and that can be your second handle.

As far as putting a $120 boomstick on a $90 compact goes... it doesnt really make sence to me. If you want to, im not going to say anything bad.

paintballer
01-06-2001, 09:24 AM
I want my handles to be a good distance apart.Well what kind of barrel should I get?

Aaladar

I'd say go with the Lapco Bigshot.

Im writing everything else on the second page.Maybe I should just get a tippmann make it silenter improve the accuracy, and get a new barrel think it would be cheaper and better? It can shoot fast imagin it being silent shooting 6 balls per second because im pretty slow I can shoot like three per second SLOW.And with making it accurate I probably wont miss.Well like I said im going to test them both out the shutter and 98 and ill picture them both better unless you guys have a better Idea

The tippman upgraded the way you said won't be better than a upgraded spyder compact 2K. He does not have a regulator...

Here's what i'm going to buy for my spyder compact 2K in order to upgrade it. I recieved a lot of advices and the parts I buy just seems to be the best:

Palmer stabiliser regulator(90$)----> act as a foregrip also
Spyder compact 2000 bottomline adapter (30$)
Taso turbo valve (20$)
Lapco bigshot barrel (45$) ---> cheap, but a great performer
Madman spring kit (10$)
Anti-siphon tube for my bottle (10$)

I'm also going to drill out the holes of the vertical adapter a bit larger in order to improve air flow. I will also remove the venturi insert of the stock bolt. (also increase air flow). Sand and polish all my internals. By doing all this, I should be able to run my gun low pressure (around 300 psi, according to what I heard). Low pressure reduce ball breaks, improve accuracy, improve gas efficiency, makes the gun quieter, reduce the kick of the gun.

All this will cost me about the same price than a shutter, but I will have a gun 10 times better than the shutter and 20 times better than a half-upgraded m98 like you were talking about. It's really the way to go!

ONE SUGGESTION...

Instead of getting the Spyder Compact 2000, get the regular Spyder 2000 and upgrade it.. you'll be happier..
it' will be about the same amount to do so in the long run, as compared to starting witha compact 2000, you will not have a rear cocking assembly from the factory. if you buy the Spyder 2000, it will have rear cocking, with a very decent stock bolt. only 1 thing wrong with it.. the black aluminum nut (wheel looking thing) they spin onto the back of the rear caocking bolt, NEEDS LOCKTITE.. hehe blue or red works great!

Umm instead of the spyders how about adding a powerfeed and double trigger to the m98?And an xchamber. Because the M98's trigger responds well.So thats why I think I should get it and add a lapco bigshot. :P

if you want a second grip and a comfortable gun with great accuracy and can take a beating get the M98. Also the M98 is kind of ugly , but it rarely has ball breaks or has problems. The shutter is a rip off, if you were to get a spyder get the TLplus. Spyders tend to have problems rare ball breaks and they look ok. They are not as comfortable as the M98 though and for sure they can not take barely any abuse. Trust me my friend got a spyder 2000 and almost everytime i went to his house to go Paintballing it would leak out of the barrel and grip. So he took it in the airsmith said they repaired it ,but they didnt. it still leaked . If the m98 ever leaked you could send it to tippmann and they will fix for free. I got a m98 and it rocks. Here are some reviews you could do to it. Also check out http://www.m98center.com and look what these people did to their guns.

Upgrades:
Model 98 120$
Lapco Bigshot 50$
Lapco RVA 14$ (For easy Spring access)
Rocket Cock 20$ (to protect the bolt and reduce noise)
PB Double Trigger With Guard 18$ (Increases Rate Of fire and also makes the gun less ugly.)
Tippmann Expansion Chamber Kit 42$ (To stop liquid co2 from entering the gun)

Those are great upgrades I have them all and trust me it makes the gun look cooler , shoot better, reduce noise, increase Rate of fire, and great accuracy.

Trust me on this once you get the Model 98 you will be happy when you did. I Love My m98 and will never sell it for anything!

Man look at all this stuff. buy this buy that, Tipman is better than kingman, kingman is the best, buy a piranha etc. just try the guns and buy what you like. If you really like the feel of a stingray then buy that. Alot of people are just gonna tell you to buy the gun they like the best and that may not be the gun you like the best. Try it before you purchase the gun or there is a good chance you arent gonna be happy with your purchase

i must certainly agree with you there elTwitcho I've shot a Spyder and M98 extensivly. Found a few things.. most shops will also agree, the m98 is long and heavy, it's a tough gun though, the flatline barrel can be a pain in the *** on it.. due to line up issues durring installation. If your not into speel ball, or really getting close up in bunkers a M98 is a great gun, and it's pretty damn accurate.

Myself I DO prefer ther spyder. simple cheap, effective. and I'm more comfortable with it..

on the other hand i 100% agree with you elTwitcho. TRY GUNS, LOTS OF THEM... if you like it, buy it.
DON'T BUY IT CAUSE IT LOOKS COOL... Function before looks.

it's a real hairbrained scheme. 3 guys needed two more for their team, so they recruited me and another guy from the pbcity forums. We're going just for the experience and for the fun of it. We'll be competng in the rookie class, which means we might do decent, but keep in mind our first game together will probably be skyball game 1 for us, so it aint gonna be too pretty :) We'll work out strategies, have a game plan and see how it goes. Even if we get 0 points all tourney, it's gonna be skyball, so it'll be a blast. I've got a digital camera so I'll take a few pics and post em for everyone. Plus I might get a chance to meet some of the pros, which would just be sweet. Cant wait for march, I'm so psyked

You should go with the compact 2k if you are just choosing between it or the SE. But, the Tl plus has a lot of upgrades on it that would cost more money to upgrade a 2k too. Its also pretty cheap for about 160 bucks. Get a spyder over the 98 though their much more upgradeable.

hey el twicho, atleast you know whos on your team, i say to my co captain "whos playing?" john, al, chris, you and me "al?!?" oh he wanted on the team so i said ok "eh...um shouldn't you run this by me the captain first?" oh, i figured it was nothin

01-29-2001, 09:22 PM
lol. That's why i like not being a captain. my responsibilites can be summed up as "Wake me up before we go on the field". Sometimes it's fun to not be in charge of anything
