Well taken care of Ions are bloody amazing guns. Keywords are "Well taken care of" though.

any gun is a noob gun if the user is a nub. a 1st timer won't do crap with an angel if he can't shoot. in comparison, a pro can probably pwn anybody with a simple $40 blowback.
remember, the gun doesn't make the player, skills do.
but yea, i have an ion, and i love it - it works, so i don't see what all the fuss is about.

Exactly... thats my point.. i was totally pwning people w/ my trilogy at my field and i felt proud.. but im still looking into a faster electro
possibly a mini e-orracle or something of the sort.

Take a word of advice and stay away from cockers in the future.

Yes, unless they are pump.
I have been called a noob for using a Sniper in speedball, but hey, I like it.
Other than that, my gun went down and I was laughed at for usng my friends back-up (stock spyder Extra) with an Egg and compressed air. It was fun not pumping, but still not spreying-and-preying.

Dangerous Power Fusion would be a good choice. Also, look at the new Proto Rail coming out.

Why? What is so bad about cockers? Their poor re-sale valuse allows you to get an amazing gun for very cheap. I have never had a problem with any of my cockers and don't see any reason to give them up.
To the thread starter: Use whatever you like. If you like the way cockers operate and feel, then stick with them. I own 4 cockers, and I picked up a PM5 not long ago which will be a back-up gun to, yes, my cocker.

well ive still got my tippmann, it was my first gun and I love it and am not selling it. of course it doesn't get much use except for the rare occasion that I pull it out if I feel like playing with some noobs.
I did bring it to the paintball field where I used to ref sometimes so I could jump into noob games and even out the teams if ppl started *****ing about unfair sides too much. or sometimes I just uncrewed the barrel and barrel tagged ppl with it. even the crappy 8 inch tippmann stock barrel is accurate when you're barrel tagging :D but I don't think my other guns are noobish, just the tippy.

About a year ago, my plan was to own some e-spyder (specifically an AMG, which i just sold) and slightly trick it out (which i did) to use on days i felt like being "noobish" (like playing with new players and recballers).
But the need for money... and the need to reduce the amount of paintball crap i own... killed that idea. But what i might do is ask my "boss" where i ref if i can mod one of the newer rentals (spyders) and use that sometimes. I certainly don't need to buy any more spyders - i've owned at least 5 in the past 3½ years.
Apparently owning an Ion to some people online seems noobish but i have yet to run into anyone in person that says it's noobish. Lots of people own them and quite a few people like mine.

thei field i usually go to started renting out a couple of ions a few months ago. on one of them they put a new trigger and a couple other things, can't remember right now. just a few minor mods. sometimes, if there isn't much going on, one of the refs will grab it and come play.
