If you want to make your barrels self cleaning. Use Rain X wipes. I use them, Run them up and down your barrel every 2 or 3 days of use. If you break a ball it will self clean with in 4 shots.
At least it works on stock barrels and Empire barrels.

DO NOT USE THEM ON FLATLINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't need to have your font so huge.

Rain X  Works great on cars.

rain x makes the rain bead up and run off your windshield so in theory it should make paint bead up and come out of your barrel on the balls you shoot following the break.... hmmm..... bygod i think hes got something! lol

it doesnt have any effects on the ball when it comes out? could be a dumb question but im just wondering?

no it doesn't seem to. Its just a super slick coat. Nothing sticks to the ball to change the shape. If it where a stick movable coat just think of the problems it would cause on windshields. dirt dust bugs.

All I know is it shoots clean just as fast as my friends J J or faster.

I guess a little longer testing will tell everything.

Thanks for that info, I am going to try it on my stock 98 custom barrel.

Why can't this theory be used on Flatlines?

Because it will make the flatline surface too slick, and render that faltline usless...not that it was usefull before though...

I like my Flatline.

The flatline works on friction. To work right it must be clean no oil. It is a sandblasted barrel. Even oily paint after awhile will stop the barrel from working.

I see. So how do i properly clean a Flatline?

Clean a flatline with water at the end of the day or just use a squeegee on the field. (That was easy)

If you have a 98 then when you notice its not working right take it off and clean with soap and warm water.

The A5 I clean the same way after every game. Oh rinse after with warm water.

If I bought oily paint. I use to roll the paint in a towel before the game to remove the oil. A hand full at a time. It takes a little time but it was worth it. Clean dry paint gets a good back spin and flys better.

Thanks for the tip. I can put water down the Cyclone as well right, and let it flow through the Flatline?

get cotton balls with rubbing alcohol/water mix.... and shoot them through the cyclone/flatline... or any other barrel, for a quick clean...

I would not necessarily do that. The cyclone has internal aluminum parts that may rust if you continually run water through it with out taking it apart and drying them. Just go the extra step and take off the barrel when you clean it ;)
Buying a pull-through squeegee would also be a good idea if you don’t have one already. Your marker should have come with one though.

would this not reduce accuracy?

And we all know that aluminum rusts with exposure to water :dodgy: I would worry about the screws rusting..but not much else.

I wouldn't shoot cotton balls. The strands may get caught in the sandblast in the barrel. I'm not sure but I don't care to try. Warm soap water works fine. Thanks any way.

Hey, I barely passed chemistry for a reason :P

Moving on...

I don’t see why shooting cotton balls through your flatline would be a problem. Sure, it may be an unorthodox way of cleaning your barrel, but the inside of the flatline is not that incredibly rough…just stick with the squeegee and water.

I do have a pull through, but it is a pain to take the barrel off on the field. At home cleaning is fine though.

How do you guys clean your cyclone?

i clean my cyclone the way listed... i never had paint break in my flatline so i never had to worry about cleaning it...

i also clean other barrels using the cotton ball method... dont knock it till you try it...

Cotton balls are a nice way to clean it...provided you dont get little alcohol covered "fuzzies" in your gun.

No, and I don't think alcohol would have very positive effects of the surface of your paintballs. But then I've never tried it, might not leave anything behind at all.

If the rain-x dries improperly then it creates lumps inside your barrel, effecting bore size and such.
When done properly it works quite well.
