ok i'm confused. my gun sucks. what am i doing wrong? i get so many breaks it is unreal. it happens in the chamber, barrel, heck last time i had paint all over my bolt!! the only paint i can really use is ZAP performance cuz it's bought locally. but it can't always just be the paint. there must be something wrong with me. could it be that i have an aftermarket barrel (14' CMI tru-flight) instead of like a 32* one?? or is the stock bolt just really bad and always chops paint?? please someone help me. im getting so frustrated with this gun.

OK, don't panic ... here are some things to check, that could be causing your problem.

1) check the O-rings on the bolt and hammer. make sure they fit in their grooves snugly. If they loose (by that I mean sagging, limp or too easily removed from their grooves) they can cause the bolt/hammer not to operate correctly resulting in chopped balls. If you think you need new o-rings, either order a replacement set from an online store or your local proshop ... you might even consider going to Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot (take your old o-rings with you).

2) Does the paint fit the barrel. Unscrew your barrel, put a paintball in the end that mounts to the gun. Can you blow the paintball through the barrel? When you try, does it refuse to move, or did it roll out the other end before you blew through it? If the paintball is too big for your barrel, you'll get a lot of barrel breaks and possibly chops.

3) Check the feed port, the part of the feed tube where the ball drops into the marker. Roll a handful of fresh paintballs through the feed tube to see if they drop into the marker, or get hung up. Could be you need to widen the feed port a bit using a dremel (sic).

Let me know how things go after you check these three things.

heres another thing- check your ball detent, if you took apart your gun and put the bolt back in upside dwn it will chop off the ball detent. take out the bolt, and make sure that the slit in the front is lined up with the ball detent, and the air hole in the bolt is facing down. you may need a ball detent, the same thing happened to me. i got a new one an voila.

Well............have you ever chroned your marker you could be shooting really hot and that could be the cause of the breaks. Just back your velocity out a little.

OLD PAINTBALLS ...

If your paint is old and not stored correctly, it'll swell and not feed into the gun properly ...

ok, my ball detent was changed b4 the problems because i noticed it was wore out. all the o-rings were just fine. my velocity is usually turned down (having the adjuster almost falling out of the back end). but the bore size is probably the problem. i need to get a new barrel soon anyway. what is the best combo of paint/barrel that you guys use??

thanks alot, im almost on the verge of buying a different gun.

I got the same problem...

So far i've only played in cold weather so it's probably just because of the cold messing up mah paint or liquid co2...

I heard blow backs tend to chop more balls up then say cockers so it could b the bolt

Other than that im lost:confused:

it'll depend on what kind of barrel you get. A good medium bore barrel should cover most paints. Before I got a freak kit, I was using a smart parts tear drop and had good luck shooting PMI premium, diablo blaze, 32 degrees competition, view loader, proball, big ball, RPS marbalizer, brass eagle.

the thing to watch is humidity ... during the humid months here, i'd switch to a smaller bore paint to account for swelling ... dry months, I'd stick with a medium bore paint.

And, if you don't want to deal with that hassle, go for a barrel kit, like the Freak Junior at www.paintballgear.com. Custom Products, ACI and other companies are also putting out barrels with interchangeable inserts so you can match the paint to the barrel better.

Good Luck

ok, everything is making sense... at least more then before. i didnt start having problems until i played in the cold. so im assuming that has a big factor. thanks for the paintball describtion-type-detailed-explaination, it really helped. and while we are on the subject, what is the proper way to store paintballs? i usually leave them in the container i bought them in or a guppy and they stay in my room at normal room temp.

you can keep them in your guppies, just don't overfill them, or you can leave them in the bags they came in. If you can stomach it, go buy some Proball in the 500 round plastic container. You can reuse the containers to store leftover paintballs ... they work great.

I keep my leftovers in my closet.

Hope that helps.
