Now I've been playing paintball for about 6 months now and have loved every minute of it. It has now come time for me to get a new marker and was looking at the Invert Mini and the PMR. I was heavily leaning towards the PMR until I saw some of the reviews and posts about the PMR.
We have DM/PM Owners v. the PMR.
PMR owners who are claiming PMRs are better than Angels, EGOs and DM/PMs
Ion Owners vs. the PMR
PMR Owners vs. the Ion/Epiphany.
Where does it stop? Despite liking what I've seen from the PMR, I have half a mind to go with the Invert after all the crap I've seen here. People saying the PMR sucks, it's plastic, it'll break (which are completely unfounded at this point). People posting non-reviews of the PMR since they see the rating is above what they feel comfortable with. People who have PMRs going and rating competing guns down (that they haven't tried) and telling people to just get a PMR. The worst part is that this crap won't just stop on the boards. You bring your marker to the field and those same snobs will give you looks like you just committed some heinous crime.
The worst part of it all is that that you'll get grouped in with the PMR/ION/Epiphany snobs who think their gun is better than any gun on the market.
What is with all this my gun is better than your gun crap? It's not like we're cavemen trying to impress potential mates. Besides, just because you spent 1200+ on a marker and someone else spent 400.00 on a marker does not make you invulnerable. The 400 dollar marker still shoots paintballs that break on impact. There is also diminishing returns to consider where 1200/400 = 3, but that does not mean your marker is 3 times better. On the flip side, though there is still an advantage to the 1200 dollar marker, so don't expect your 400 dollar marker to be better than the 1200 dollar marker across the board, there's a reason it's 1200 dollars.
So finally, please, please, please, leave the gun politics at home. It's ruining the fun of a sport that I've just recently come to enjoy, and you better believe I'm not the only one who is dismayed by this kind of behavior. I've seen this same stuff happen in the computer/consumer electronics sector with ATI and NVIDIA (graphics board manufactures). Fanboys keep pushing "their" company rather than looking objectively at the product and in the end it hurts the consumers, because the consumers have no idea what to believe or buy.
Just end the marker politics for everyone's sake,
Kyle
