Well, the best barrel is the best barrel, irrespective of which marker it is attached to, so all you really need to know is which is the best barrel, and then make sure that that barrel is available with the Impulse thread.
As such, this question is probably best dealt with in the Barrel and Paint forum.

length: nothing longer than 16"; really just personal preference, up front players usually go 12-14" while backs will go 14-16". Some people buy 8 or 10 inch barrels, but unless you like a really tight setup, I would not recommend it. Of course, some 8" setups look really cool, e.g. a freak back and a six shooter front from www.whitewolfairsmithing.com (http://www.whitewolfairsmithing.com)
best barrel: there is no best set barrel, but of course, youre going to want to buy a barrel kit, so that you can have multiple bores, each to better fit certain paints, boosting accuracy and efficiency. for a kit, many recommend the sly carbon fiber barrel kit (www.slyequipment.com (http://www.slyequipment.com)) and the deadlywind wisper (www.deadlywind.com (http://www.deadlywind.com)) which is cheaper, lighter, and uses freak inserts (I am going to get one). Carbon fiber has many advantages, such as lighter weight, greater accuracy, and better cleaning if a paintball breaks in the barrel. There are many other good barrel kits as well, so I would suggest checking the reviews

What barrel should I get for my ion that I can get with a silver back and a blue front? So far I'm thinking an ultralite or freak. I've heard the ul is lighter, and more accurate (if matched), but the freak is a kit, so I'll be able to match more easily (good accuracy+efficiency)...
