First upgrade would be Knowledge, do some searches and look at the reviews of the products your interested in. In a lot of posts the flatline barrel gets flamed a lot, they are not with it...I have one and its fairly acurate, I have a good idea as to where the ball is going to go. Compared to my brother in laws Apex it had about the same acuracy and range.

flatlines are a decent investment if you know how to operate one for best preformance...thats where many people start the flaming at, their low quality of common sense and knowlage. do some thinking and research before making any desperate upgrades.

O and there are some google videos of the different barrels being test fired, check them out, that might help you make a decision. Also see if you can test out your friends different barrels tool.

I have an A-5 and it is Nice, it may not look like much if you see a picture but if you want some ideas then go to the tippmann a-5 pictures and look at picture #120. Thta is mine and it has a list of upgrades under it. Message me if you want to know more about all of them. I know my tippmann like the back of my hand and could give you good reputable advice. Its the one you see right here under my name.

buy a barrel first or a response trigger/ egrip, then work off of that.

If your A-5 is bone stock, the first upgrade should be a good aftermarket barrel, a $30 J&J will help alot.
After that, you may want to upgrade your ROF with either an egrip or response trigger.

I'm a big fan of playing with a new marker as it is. Bone stock, for a few games. Decide what you don't like about it, then get your upgrades based on your findings here.
Like I keep telling all new players, if you ask 100 people what upgrades you should get, you'll get 100 different lists and suggestion combinations. The beauty of working with a paintball marker is that you can customize it to fit your own styles based on your likes/dislikes for the marker and the upgrades.

Buy a Flatline barrel then go for the E-Grip you will have the advantage in accuracy and range so then who needs to spray a spot down with paint.

Flatlines add the advertised distance, but the accuracy is merely okay.
It's not worth the larger price tag for a barrel that can fire farther but is less accurate than $30 alternatives. When I used mine, rarely did I tag people outside of the range a traditional barrel could cover, the long shots it allows are usually too far to hit accuratley.
If you want additional distance, apex is supposed to be the way to go.

yeah get a apex or buy a good barrel kit, or cheap barrel. Those are all good options.

Apex barrel has more versatility(dive bomb shots are insane), but you can find yourself adjusting it between fire fights. Flatline is basicaly an Apex clicked all the way foward. The findings of my friend and I are that the Apex and Flatline barrels basicaly have the same distance and accuracy. I think the Flatline has a horible reputation among people that have yet to use one.
