i know this idea probly would take up too much of the mods' time, but it would be great to screen posts by new members to pbreview. im usually fully engaged in the tippmann and smart parts ion forums...and everyday there are numerous posts from brand new members that either have been answered several time in the last few days...or are in all of the stickies. its clearly obvious to all members that the new people do not know how to browse around before asking a question. im sure many other people get very annoyed when we see 3 threads all asking the same thing.
i wish it was simple to prevent repetitive threads from new members, or a way to not post their threads until a mod has approved it.
i know it seems mean, but a simple way is not let a new member make threads until they have 20 posts or something like that. so they might be compelled to search or at least ask their question in a similar thread.

Just be polite and point them in the right direction. They'll get the point eventually.

well that prevents the people from doing it twice.....most of the time.
the problem is the constant stream of first posters doing this. the stickies are there...no one reads em. i read them when i got there.

Then report them. This has been brought up many times before. Tell them to read the stickies and report the post.

There will always be new members, and there will always be repeated threads. Why? 'Cause people are lazy to look around, which you've already said, and it wont stop.
There arent really that many active mods around, and they're all busy enough to begin with. I know Lopez and the other mods always look at the reports as soon as they can, so just report it and theyll get to it.
With the 20 post thing, that will only create more spam. Think about it.

I like Newbie questions, even if they have been asked before. Got to keep people playing paint-ball. Is a member joining in 2006 new? What if they banned new members in 2005?http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/mittelgrosse/medium-smiley-064.gif

This is one of those suggestions that we get that sounds really great in theory but in practice it's difficult to implement. If you see threads that are out of line, just report them and we'll deal with the person. If it's a new person, many of the mods will send a gentle reminder as to the site rules to get them back on track.
