Barrel Ports

what exactly do barrel ports do for you? my friend tells me they increase your acurracy some but I think they just make your gun a little quieter. Can anyone help me out? what do they do? good and bad

increase quietness. decrease efficeincy.

A barrel with porting will be quiet, but not very efficient. There has to be LOTS of porting in the barrel, or VERY little porting to have effect. A custom products barrel has porting, but won't kill you in efficiency. It won't be silent either. A lapco bigshot will be loud, and an all american will be quiet, but the lapco is more efficient than the AA.

Oh ya Smart Parts claims that There sprial porting increases range but I have never seem it.

Porting is suppose to decrease the turbulence on the paintball so it flies straighter than a barrel without porting by expelling the excess CO2.
