So has anyone had a chnace to actually play with one?
Please no "my neighbors sisters aunts girlfriends poolboy" has one and I picked it up and it TOTALLY ROCKS OMG!!!!:banana::banana::banana:
I mean I am pretty sure when the I will pick one next spring (egrip of course) but I wanted to hear what people had found. How is the weight? Do a-5 parts fit this new marker, like stocks, gripframe, and barrels?

i haven't played with one but the local shop has one its heavier than the a5 and the barrels for the a5 wont work( i was going to trade my a5 for it if they would). after seeing it and thing about it, i'm not giving up my a5 for it .the only up grades out there are made by tippmann and all the shops are having a hard time getting them thats what turned me off.and otherparts stocks- no,grips-no,nothing will fit.externaly. internal not sure

I've tinkered with the one at the store. It's about the same weight but a bit bulkier than the A5. The barrels we're not 100% sure of. I believe it's A5 threaded however, there's a shroud in place that isn't particularly kind to aftermarket barrels, so you may have to tinker a bit. In terms of shooting or useage, it's just like an A5 and most A5 lovers I think will find the X7 to their liking. The milsim types will love it as it has quite a bit of upgradability and can easily take different configurations.

It's the same barrel threads as the A5. I've got a JJ Ceramic A5 barrel on mine right now. There are some interchangeable parts between the two guns, but mostly the parts in the X7 are upgraded/changed just enough that most parts aren't identical. Sounds like I may just hold off a little if what I am hearing is correct.
I biggest hope was that this new marker would be substantially lighter (like Tippmann is claiming it is) but that seems to not be the case.
The accessories thing is not such a big dealio, but my current set up is pretty ok. I really need to post some pics of it, since it really is singular looking.

I have had a chance to demo one from my local pro shop. Here are my thoughts about upgrading from an A-5. The X-7 only real advantage over the A5 is its looks and its hopper. To answer your question, yes it has the same threading as the a-5. I have the J&J Edge barrel kit and it will work if I remove the barrel shroud and install the barrel back. I can then install the front barrel. This doesn't seem to be too much of a problem since you don't really change the barrel back unless you need a different bore size.
The X-7 really is a cool looking marker. I was planning on buying one to replace my A-5, but since there really isn't any real improvements (except it looks cool), I decided to stick with my A-5. I have invested alot in my A-5 with upgrades to get the most out of the marker so I don't see any real advantage over the A-5. One thing I will be doing is buying the hopper of the X-7 and putting on my a-5. It is much lower profile and since it is offset I can use my red dot sight without having to use the stove pipe. The X-7 hopper does get slightly in the way of the sight about 20% is lost on the right side, but I can clearly see through the site and find my target. The low profile of the hopper far outweighs the slight impairment. Especially since nearly half of the time I get hit, its in the hopper.
So for me, I am sticking with my A-5. I see no need to jump over to the X-7. But if you have to have the looks, that may be a different story.

The differences are geared toward the milsim/scenario players really. A lot of aesthetic variants from the A5, but as for performance, theres not a whole lot of difference. it is a WHOLE lot easier to modify than the A5, at least in terms of cosmetics.
I do own one, (SN #68) and aside from a few design drawbacks, I love the thing. It shoots just like the A-5, and its weight isn't really all that uncomfortable. It looks heave because it is a large marker, but its not really all that bad.
I'm not a fan of the hopper, the lower profile dictated that it be elongated, which screws up your feed if you're shooting downhill, all the rounds stack to the front. My initial tests had me shooting several blank rounds until I tipped the barrel of the marker up.
But it really is a neat little piece.
