I am in a state of confusion when it comes down to the freak and all the other smart parts barrels. Ok, well the freak comes standard with a Freak front. But for extra you can get an All American front. Does this mean the AA is a better barrel? Then SP has all their other barrels, like the big daddy and the tear drop. Are these interchangeable with the freak backs and such?

Next question, can you use an AA back with a Freak Front, or a AA back with the freak inserts? blaaa so many combinations. Can somebody please make a little chart or something that lists all the combinations, and if possible wich ones are the best, ie freak stainless back and AA front would be the best IMO.

Thanks.

Freaks come in three parts, Backs, Inserts, and Fronts.

Backs are about 5 to 6 inches long with female threads and male threads (the male thread is the part that screws into the marker) the backs hold the inserts (inserts slide into the backs) and come in two styles, Stainless Steel or Black. However now with some of the Rats that are running around, I wouldn't be surprised to see pewtars available as well.

Inserts are the colored tubes that slide inside the freaks back and change the diameter of the inside of the barrel. I believe they have several packages available (different combinations) however the deluxe kits gives you all 8 inserts.

Fronts come in two styles, and multiple colors. Teardrop and AA. The All American only is available in 14 inches, where as the teardrops come in 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and I believe 20 inch. These fronts screw into the female ends of the backs, and makeup the barrels over all length what I had listed above (10-20 inches)

Now some people claim the AA is quietier and more accurate and much easier to clean. Those are questions that only you will be able to determine for yourself.

Hope this helps~KK

ya well so now i c. The reguilar front with the deep mlling and porting is te teardrop, the regular freak front, and the AA is an optional front with not so much milling. flatter outside.

Well, i really would like to get some first hand opinions on the SS back and the AA front. Are they better in anyways? Loudness, ease of maitenance, accuracy or just good looks?

the difference between the freak back and the AA back is that the AA back doesnt take inserts, and the freak does. all fronts are interchangable.
AA barrel has both a AA front and back, the big daddy has a AA back and a Freak front, the freak has a freak front and back.
the stainless freak back is just more durable and comes silver. i think the AA front is a little more quiet and accurate than the freak.
the freak is harder to maintain because of the tear drop ports. and i like the looks fo the freak more than the AA.

I think (that's a big think) that the Teardrop (freak) front is cleans itself out quicker after a chop becuase the way that the porting is milled into it. The All American however, is more accurate and know I think (another big think) that you can get a AA front for a freak in lengths other than 14".

Just checked the smart parts website and the AA front now comes in 12 14 16 18. With a 14 AA freak on my RAT impulse w 689 and PMI premium advantage, the gun was shooting balls right on top of each other, more accurate than my cocker with a ans bolt and 14 dye ss.

but i do like the milling of the teardrops over the AA's... OK ok, so a SS back is only for looks and durabilty, the AA is more accurate, and doesnt come in 10 inch but in every other length.

Sounds good.

btw, feel free to move this to the barrel forum if you wish. I just thought it was a totally smart parts thing so it should go in the SP forum. thanks for all your help.
