I'm seriously thinking off buying this marker, there's only one little problem. Altough i've read all the revies on pbreview, and most people seem to be happy with te gun, some people keep on telling me the JT is very diffucult to clean, and it needs much maintaince to make sure it stays in a good condition. Because i'm not a great technican, i'm wondering if this is going to be a problem. So is this true? if so, could someone give me some tips on cleaning and maintaining this marker?

thx in advance

I have shot a few thousands rounds through this marker and have not experienced a problem. The bolt removes easily for cleaning, a few drops of oil in the air source and you are good to go. Very easy to clean and keep functioning. I usually shoot a cocker and use the 4.0 as a secondary. Upgrade the barrel. All in all I would recommend it.

except for that ring that keeps the bolt on.. thats a pain to take off

I agree. It is worse to put the ring back on. There has got to be a fix for it.

i beleive you can get a spyder velocity adjuster with replacement pin that may not require the ring.

desertsabre, you are going to have to maintain any marker you get.. just imaging if you paid alot more and ruined your marker from not knowing how to take care of it instead of buying this good marker for very cheap and ruining it the same way. Buy a cheap marker and learn how to clean and maintain it properly.

Desertsabre, if you have the money, this is a great marker for you. It's a great all around marker and you don't have to upgrade the barrel right away, due to the stock barrel being excepitionally accurate for a stock.

Yes, I know that. But a cheap spyder is easier to maintain than a $ 1000 electronic marker.
But from what I've heard here, maintaining the JT excellerator 4.0 doesn't seem to hard.

I have a 4.0 and have replaced my little keyring with a garbage bag twisty tie. It works great. Its a little wire with colored plastic around it.

Whoa, I never thought of that bassnut. Great idea. Those little things are pretty strong, and if you really don't want anybody seein the bright color tie, paint it w/ model paint or something.
