I'm sure some of you have heard the 07 Cyborg has run into some bumps since it's release a month ago and I would like to spread the word on the situation and what is going on.
Detent Issue: The first run detents on the 07 cyborgs were too small and the spring was not large enough to support them. This allowed the ball to move forward slightly out of the range of the eyes, registering 'no ball in breech'. This has been resolved with new detents that are wider and also have a wider spring base. All 07's now come with the new detents as the issue with the original detents were resolved a week after release.
Solenoid Issue: Currently there is an issue with the solenoid as it won't cycle over 20 bps or around there. Macdev has discovered that the noid they chose to use has much looser tolerances then expected. Meaning one noid may shoot well and another may only perform half as well. Macdev is currently looking at and testing other solenoids to replace the ones currently on the 07 Cyborgs. It may come down to a custom solenoid, no word yet. James has said he is hoping within the next 1-2 months this issue will be resolved but this is NOT official, it can take 3-4 months as they want to make sure people can get the marker to cycle at what is was advertisted at; 33 bps with paint, 46 cycles.
This will be a FREE fix as well once a new noid is found and selected for the 07 Cyborgs. The 07 can still shoot the 15 bps allowed in tournaments so this issue in no way takes the 07 off the field.
Board/Eye logic issue: This is a bit more mysterious issue at hand. Some people are experiencing 'skipped shots' or 'burst shots'. This would lead one to believe the marker is bouncing in some cases or not seeing the ball in the breech. This issue is not present in all 07 Cyborgs, some people have zero board issue others have issues with the board. I believe there is a software/flash update being worked on to improve the code of the 07 board to resolve these issues but nothing official has been said yet.
Flashes may be free (they were free with the 06 flash) to the original owners of the 07 Cyborg; I don't want to officially say they are free until something more concrete comes out from Macdev. If the flash is free like with the 06, then you simply pay a shipping fee to the proper shop such as Paintball Kingdom.
If you can't wait for a flash the 07 Cyborg will work with the stock 06 Cyborg board and the 06 Cyborg NOX board. The 07 has no issue using these two boards and some favor the NOX board over the stock board. So simply swapping out your board into your 07 will work or if you feel so inclined you can purchase a stock 06 board or NOX board until the flash is available.
That being said there is NO recall on the 07 Cyborg. Macdev IS aware of the issues at hand and IS WORKING to correct the problems at hand. Also, please keep in mind the 07 Cyborg has been out for only a month so these are first run bugs. Once again, Macdev is aware of the problems and they are working to correct them. Some issues, such as the noid and programming will take longer because of the time, research, development, and testing involved to make sure everything is working properly.
Bashing Macdev is not going to help the issues at hand. Calling and complaining or writing angry e-mails will not make things magically fix themselves. There is already enough of that going on in other forums and people are failing to realize that all these fixes are going to be free of charge to the owners, minus some shipping charges, which in the grand scheme of things is trivial.
I hope this information helps those who are looking for it. And I have to tip my hat to James at Macdev for working his heart and soul out on this issue as he is taking this very seriously. And also Kai from PBN and Jim from PBK for being so helpful and liberial with this information.
