we need some advise from the public. I work at a paintball shop, and want your opinion on what is the most common, upgrade for a m98? what would be your first upgrade for your m98?

Please list what you would like to see at your local paintball shop?

Most common upgrade would have to be a new barrel.. after that probably a vertical adapter and expansion chamber or gas through grip. Double triggers would also be popular. Rear cocking and RVAs seem to be in demand also. Tippmann m98c is such a popular gun any serious pball shop needs to stock or make availble every upgrade for them. I am assuming you mean the 98c.

first upgrade should definitely be a new barrel. Second, an RVA. Third, either a rear cocker or a modified side cocker to seal the bolt from dirt and paint.

I'm with Mota... New barrel, then the vertical adapter/expansion chamber...then double trigger. Those are the three things that I got right away. Soon to come, drop forward and the Full Boar Rear Cock/RVA.

hmph

1- barrel
2- drop forward (98c is just too long, gotta shave off some inches)
3- rocket cocking/full boar
4- expansion chamber/regulator
5- RT trigger

I'm with Crime Dog and Mota, unless of coarse you want to upgrade to Nitro.

I would say the Flatline is great but it isn't for everyone.
The E-bolt is too expensive for what it does.
The RT is a great way to start shooting quicker but if you aren't useing a revy and don't plan on one I don't think it is a great idea.

NOTE: I have never actually tried the e-bolt or seen one in use this is just what I have been told about them. Everyone I know says it isn't worth the money but if you don't mind spending alot it you can get it.

I like my e-bolt. 250 bucks? I don't think it's worth that much. Of course, every aftermarket tippmann anything is overpriced. No biggie. But it's still worth it to get it.

Now for most common upgrades. I'll try to go in "my" order, top 5 upgrades...

1 - New Barrel. Might want to look into the Aradus. Adjustable bore, 100 bucks. 12". Too much, then look into J&J, Lapco, and CP for good barrels aboot 50 bucks.
Sorry Tippmann, but you guys are notoreous for crap barrels.

2 - Double trigger. Light trigger pull, and an easy high ROF can be achieved for very cheap!

3 - RVA. Or even the FB Shadow, RC/RVA. I like the shadow. It can also be used later on with the LP kit! Since it comes w/ a modified rear bolt too. But for just RVA, Psycho Ballistics. Tourney legal, and can be used without cutting any springs!

4 - Drop Forward. The 98 is long. This helps overall shorten it and make it more balanced. Get one that's right for the sized tank.

5 - Motorized loader. I like my Ricochet. Gotten quite a few deflections, actually. So for those w/ budget in mind, get the Rico AK. It's a cheaper LED version. But same shell design. Plus quieter, and W.A.S is working on (or already has) a better aftermarket chip for those that want it later on.

Then for people with a better budget and want to continue from those first 5 upgrades, though not really in order this time....

6 - Air. An HPA system. Improves more than Ben says. Less o-ring damage, more consistency, no CO2 clouds, and better for overall life and future upgrades.

7 - VA. Vertical Adaptor. For the next upgrade...

8 - Regulator. Forget expansion chamber, they are horrible. If one uses CO2 (ignoreing #6), the palmer Stabilizer works well. HPA? Any other, basically. Or even the Stab.

9 - May be overpriced, but the LP kit is nice. Even more benefits from upgrade #6. Better recharge rate, and even again more better consistency. And so on.

10 - RT. This is, I consider, a newbie attractant. It's for those who want a higher ROF, but are just too lazy to actually pull the trigger every time without help. Perfect for the newbies. And good for business (i.e. paint sales). But if combined with upgrade #9, then get the LP-RT hose. It's needed.

*This isn't an upgrade. However, I suggest you get a band-saw. One with a thin blade. You should offer for like 20 bucks a "quick strip" modification at your proshop. Trust me, it's the best thing, I think, one can do to a Model 98. Makes field stripping so much easier and faster.
I can almost guarantee you'll have a few people line up and have this done.
