I've come to a dead end on upgrading my Trilogy Pro, so I've decided to buy another gun. I'm trying to move into the electronic field, but I want to stay be unique. (not buying an ION b/c everyone's got one) I'm lookin to spend less than $350. I like the Omen 2.0, but am hearing bad juju on the camfeed. My second choice is the Enphiney, but ppl aren't saying much about it. My last choice is the "old" shocker, but some complain it is a gas hog. In your opinion, what would be the best choice? (doesn't have to be one of the three)

Who cares if everyone else has the Ion. There must be a reason alot of people buy it...
Don't get any of what you have listed. Just buy the Ion, it'll work better than the others, except the Epiphany which is mainly a heavy, shiny upgraded Ion. It's also more expensive, don't bother.

Well if your not wanting to go with an ion, why not a nerve? they're good guns, I just picked one up myself. and you will be able to stay within your price range. also you don't usually see alot of them.

You have these markers. VS2, VS3, ProMaster, Wrath, Fusion, PMR, Mini, R3, Type-R, 2K2 Timmy, used Angels, used Borgs, used PM5 or DM5,. I don't have the Ion in there because, well, I don't like it. If you are stuck on the Epiphany or Ion, get the Ion. For the price of the Epiphany you only get like, no performance. I mean you get a trigger, ASA, Freak Jr. with one insert, interchangeable fire chamber bores, and the body kit. If it were more like a Firebolt, 360 QEV, trigger, Q-lock, and ASA, then it'd be worth it.

Ion. Obviously it's good to warrant it's popularity.

Save 50 bucks more and get a PMR. Or get a Promaster.

Save another 300-400 and then go HERE (http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/). You want unique, these guys will have it or be able to make it.

maybe its because SmartParts has better advertising than anyone else? gee, i dont know... alot of noobs use them because theyre simple to maintain, and they think they're the most ****** thing on the planet so they tell they're friends they have to get one otherwise they're gonna suck.
please... stop with it already.
look for people at the field you go to who have the markers your looking for and ask to hold them and try them out, 99% of the time people will let you test fire they're rigs. find the most comfortable one and go with it. its all about YOU, not the other guy.
as far as Palmers Pursuit Shop goes, yeah, those arent high end, they belong in they're own class. youl never find anything with better quality than a PPS marker. its one of those natural laws that PPS markers will just shine on any field no matter what your playing.

It really is about what YOU want. I wouldn't just not buy a gun because everyone and their dog has one.

I don't see how SP has amazing advertising, I see as much Kingman, WGP and Eclipse ads. Still the ion is not easy to maintain like you said, Its not too hard but most people actually think that you have to maintain it too much. People who want an easy gun to maintain would get a tippmann. Sure some noobs use them but good players also use them. Most people buy them because its the first mid/high-end gun for $200 that performs well.
Don't take this as a flame, take it as a correction.

I bought an Ion about a year ago because it was the best gun(and basically only gun) in its price range, but if i was making the same decision now i would save the extra $200 and get a Rail.

I've heard a lot of good things about the mini, I'd hear more if they fixed their software though :dodgy:

The bad things on a Mini are that yo can't change the drop if you wanted and you can't just put any old regulator on there. It would have to be the factory one.

Its compensating for being small, but I think special regs will be made after a while.

I would have to recommend either a fusion or save some more money. Why not a $400 maker??? Pmr...check the ratings or reviews and think about it. THe fusions not a lot of people have them and they aren't that bad. Read reviews...either way your going to get a persons opinion from here or from the review you read.
If your in the so cal area wait until the paintball expo on feb 24th and 25th. It's in Pomona so you can test some markers out there.

If you decide to buy a Mini, wait a few months because they are basically ALL defective, and a fix should be ready in the next month or 2

Used, upped Imp ftw. 300 bucks can get you a gun that's capable of keeping up with an ego.

which "old" shocker, the 03 sft's or shoeboxes, i'd say either one if you can get it, just get a bigger tank, and imp's rock too, as jman said.

smart parts advertising sucks. everyone has the ion because, well, its the best gun for its price range. most noobs wouldn't tell their friends to get the same gun as them. its some retarded kid thing that i never figred out.
shining is bad in woodsball.

I do tend to agree that buying a gun just because everyone else has one isn't a good reason to buy it. It's also not a good reason to NOT buy it. I would advise looking at Ions, Rails, and Fusions. The Epiphany, for reference, is just a dressed up Ion. If it's worth $400 to you, then go for it. I personally think the price tag is about right for it, nothing amazing, but nothing terrible either.

I hated ion's forever and shot one a few games, now I love them. They are great entry level gun. I want to get one to suplment my collection, but I'm also a big fan of shockers and cockers...

In MY Opinion:
Lol, I used to look into and dream of getting Ions, Shockers, other SP's and the like until my friend just got a Shocker. It's faster and has more modes that's really the only difference in it from my Imagine stock. Accuracy and velocity consistency were the same. The Imagine is just a bit louder.
Don't get me wrong, the shocker has waaaaaaaay better internal operation and efficiency, but at a field with all-day-air and semi-only rules, I really wouldn't do any better with the shocker than I would with my Imagine. I've been playing against $300+ for 4 years now and the Imagine is my first e-gun, the rest were mech. semis.
Point is get a high-end marker only if you need the modes and EP operation and all that. Or if you have loads of cash and no way to spend it. The best thing to do is look into whatever will fill your needs at the lowest cost. MAKE it unique your own way, even if it is the same marker as everyone else. I had that cannabis plant cover on my Imagine and it turned some heads to say the least lol.

so this is what it sounds like when people who have no clue about paintball post...
i've never ever used the modes on my guns in games before, and i upgraded from spydertypes myself, the first high end gun was a huge difference from any spyder i had to play with in the past.
and who really cares about having a gun that stands out? its cool and all but...don't lose sleep on it. stand out by killing people.

there is something to be said about the unique. not all of you can say you have a tes body timmy, but i have a friend that can. today's markers are lacking a true uniqueness compaired to the markers of yesteryear. look at shoeboxes, some of the true pioneers in electro-pneumatic technology, and still have yet to be imatated. true the internal flow rate is limited to 11.25 bps, but look at oliver lang, he almost never shoots fast, but he has the knowledge to take out opponents, bps is for true emergency purposes only. balls per seconds can never be replaced by expierience. i win tweeters, and i'm pretty sure someone will back me up on this.:)

Ollie Lang is not a back player. Backplayers need to shoot fast in order to lane.
bps is for true emergency purposes only.
Laning is a fundamental skill in tournament paintball, and is only effective with a high rof. This is not an emergency purpose. Fast fingers will not help you at all compared to other skills in an "emergency situation" anyways.
