why would an aftermarket barrel be more accurate than a stock barrel with the same bore size?

heh, b/c stock barrels don't really have a precise bore. say paint is .689 then the stock barrel could be oh say.... .695 or bigger?

Material (teflon, ceramic, aluminum, stainless, Carbon fiber, etc)
consistency of bore
Smoothness of finish inside barrel.(some stock barrels are only one step away from sandpaper inside)
Porting (also effects markers report)
Length

Most stock barrels I've seen were not that bad. I'd say up to 60 or 70 feet, the stock ones do just fine, with the exception of a few including the A5 stock barrel. But I had the Spyder Extra, and it came with a 12" silver barrel that shot really good, I was suprised. It actually shot better then the 14" Whisper barrel I bought for it. :)

why would an aftermarket barrel be more accurate than a stock barrel with the same bore size? Depending on the stock barrel, some people never really upgrade. The spyder extra[like stated before] comes with a pretty decent stock barrel. On the other hand some stock barrels are plain horrible. Mostly the reason people upgrade to a better quality barrel.

also does porting only affect sound and gas efficency or does it have other affects [can save 60$ for a palmers unported barrel)
