I'm curious to see how many players there are who think like me :).

There's a few different mindsets about what to do with your money and marker...

Type 1) You don't see the point in "wasting" time and money and hassle in upgrading when you can buy a waaay better marker for the same price.

Type 2) You are used to being broke all the time and can only afford upgrades every once in a blue moon, so you decide to take your Spyder to the max over the course of a year or longer instead of quit paintball for a long time to save up.

Type 3) You just like to tinker and never bother really with anything high-end, but like to create results yourself and are proud of your accomplishments.

Type 4) You're used to getting trashed for having a Spyder by (only the cocky, this doesn't apply to all) Ion and other $200+ EP marker owners, and are out to set a point and put them to shame by eliminating them all the time with your "crappy" Spyder.

Type 4 is often a small thing almost like a pet peeve associated with one of the other types.

I'm a Type 2 with that little Type 4 pet peeve mixed in. :).

4)You're tired of being trashed by $300 plus owners and want to put them to shame

Yup. And I don't own a spyder any more, but I still hate all the little buggers with ions who think they're sweet.

And I'm mostly type 3... except I build cockers and mags.

I prefer the one that says, why bother with anything less than a $1000 marker.

Maybe in the Kingman forum?

5)I don't like spyders

Though I am a tinkerer, but minus the spyder. If this gets moved to kingman, don't quote this and/or flame this.

P.S. I didn't vote, becuase voting is for chumps.

Why?

I wouldn't bother to upgrade a marker when I could just buy a better one.

I started to upgrade my spdyer. But then I sold it and got an ion. After i shot the ion i didn't doubt my decision at all. A high-end EP is better than any spyder.

Give me a while to gather some cash, as I have an A5 as well, which is my baby, but give me a while, and I'll prove all of you Spyder haters wrong!

I have a Spyder Xtra, and Ill upgrade it as much as possible, then I'll post the results with video, pics, bps testing, accuracy testing, and Ill compare it to my Father's DM7!!!! I know, no comparison, but this will be stricktly for research purposes. :)

Why?

It's not the fact that they have an Ion, it's the fact that they think that because they have the Ion, they're better than everyone else and their gun is "high end" and can compete with (Insert random high end gun here).

I have no problem with the ones who are cool about it and just play the game.

Wow, multiple choice poll. That's kinda cool.

Picked 1-3: i was just like 2 & 3 when i began but now i'm a 1.

Im a tinkerer - always have been, always will be. Im proud of the fact than in 21 years of playing the game, I have never bought a high-end gun off the shelf. It far more fun to get something low to mid range, & then spend a few months putting together a unique upgrade package. That way I dont waste money on features that I dont really need or want.
Untill recently, I had always played with pumps & mechanical semis. So when it came time to dive into the world of electric guns, I got myself an Ion, since the main feature I look for in new guns is upgradability (and the stock Ion seems to PLENTY of room for upgrades...:) )

I tinker with about everything I've got 2 A5's that I regularly mess with, I've got my cocker, which after a few adjustments is flying (don't mess with it too much when its working well)
and my spyder xtra(I'm always tinkering with, or trying different parts in this)

I guess I'd be a Type 3, because I do own an OLD school Spyder, I consider my Palmers "high end" because of it's performance, not cost. But I really get a certain satisfaction by eliminating braggarts who use paintball markers that are equal to my house payment with my Brass Eagle StingRayI...
