^ Follow steps 3, 4, 5, 6, and for step 7 simply unscrew and ease the tapeworm out.

Pics would help if you can. If you already had it unscrewed, then yes you should be able to push it out from the back. If not, I'd reccomend epoxying something to the front so that you can get something to grab onto and unscrew from there.

Yes, that hole next to the hammer goes all the way through. Since the tapeworm is screwed in, the easiest way to get it out would be to find the longest, skinniest pair of needle-nose pliers you can and try to unscrew it from the front (the side you broke off). And then simply push or pull it out once it is unscrewed.

How old is this Imp? Some older models have a set screw that must be removed from the bottom before the tapeworm will come out.

No. Remove the verticle adapter and there is a set screw under there. It's a 10-32 I believe. Newer Imps don't have this screw and many will tell you to just unscrew the tapeworm. That will destroy the tapeworm as you can see.

ok well its not the easiest thing to take off...theres nothing to put a wrench around so how do you suggest taking it off

You should be using an allen wrench for that set screw on the bottom, then I'd either go with Backman's idea with the needlenose, or get some jb weld and attach something to the front (busted end) of the tapeworm and use a wrench on that.

I've never installed a respirator. Check the installation instructions or maybe someone here can shed some light.

it is impossible to install the respirator with the screw in. take it out. also try drilling a small hole, and gradually increasin it to fit a nail. apply some loctite to the nail, insert from the rear, set the loctite, allow it to dry. then try and twist it out. also try heating the loctite on the tape worm up with a hairdryer.

All Impulses have a hole that connects the valve area to the manifold. On older Imps this hole extends out the bottom of the body, and is plugged with the VFF screw. This screw is too long, and sticks way up into the manifold. Tapeworms, LPR nipples, the respirator etc.. all have a tapered part that threads into the body, so they can clear this screw.
after you put in the respriator, then you put the VFF screw back in. Don't use too much force putting it back in, because you'll gouge the respriator if you do.
