Since we have a "What do you like most about Tippmann Products?" Poll. I thought we could use a "What do you "dislike" most about Tippmann Products?" Poll. :D
I love Tippmann too, but even Tippmann could use some criticism.

I find 98 customs dont that many physical modifaction upgrades. I mean there arent many body kits to change what it looks like.

Materials are a big buzz point for me. I would like to see someo more composite and carbon fiber usage. I like milsim, but the weight puts tippys at a distinct disadvantage when compared to other "speedball" markers.

I second that one! It seems that you're buying a name or looks over performance. And it's up to you to add the performance.

That's something I always wished they would do, use some other materials so it'll be lighter but stronger at the same time.

well, my friend just got an a5 and spent 3 hours dissassembling and installing new parts, it cost him about 500 bucks but he got a bunch of stuff with it. in my mind i don't think it was worth it

I answered other.
I wish tippmann would put out a bolt action marker that fired a bullet shaped paint.
Even though it would still have the same drop off. Side to side would be pin point.
Sell the paint in a box of 50 instead of 500. I bet you would still get a better hit ratio.

Exactly. For the price of a mech A5 ,there's a whole other world of paintball markers to choose from that exceed the performance of a mech A5 by far.

There was a thread about this somewhere. All I remember is that the idea was totally shot down for sooo many different reasons and that's why we have sphere shaped paintballs today.

It was the cost of production of the paint. If they dont have a big market. Theres no money in it. It would only be for the woods ball market and sniper only.
Although it would fire fine from a Tac-8 style marker. 8 round clip.
Hoppers would be out of the question.

Haha, sounds like a friend of mine. He was taking apart his 98 Custom Pro for the first time and everything fell out everywhere so he took it to the local proshop to get them to put it back together and they charged him $20.

yea i know that this thread is for tippmanns but i'm just gonna mention real quick that MR1s are really easy to take apart and put back together

About everything honestly. The only thing I like about Tippmanns is their reliability. They are very ugly IMO, overpriced for what they are, and just don't perform very well unless insanely up'd.

i dont care about the weight. unless ur a 5 year old girl...does it rly matter. i can handle my ion like i handled my tippmann. we r talking ounces here..not pounds.
but then again...lighter usually means smaller...so it is easier to handle....but some light markers can stillbe bigger than heavier ones.

My Tippmann weight is over 12lbs full loaded. I play at least 6 hours at a wack. I've never noticed a weight problem.
Maybe some of you should switch to Wheaties.

There just kinda big and bulky... can be fugly to. But so far I really havent had any problems with mine besides the Cyclond feeder breaking once. but rather than that Tippmann is ok.

 There is no more original gun in the world. Mine is completely milled by me. Hand painted by me with red to blue chameleon paint, Lapco Bigshot and dropforward, no wobble hopper mod, polished internals, trigger pen spring mod, xpansion chamber. There is not one other gun in the entire world that looks like mine.
I didn't vote; beause I can't think of anything I dislike about my C98.

ummm. all those markers you are seeing...are tippmanns.
They are not copying anyone else. They are unique in construction and operation compared to say... everything else. (except BT, but thats sort of a special case)
Don't confuse popular with generic.
Spyders are generic. There are so many spyder clones out there that it boggles the mind.
In fact I am still waiting for Kingman to make a marker that comes in a plain white box with big black letters that say PAINTBALL MARKER.
They are also extremely upgradable, so if being generic is a problem for you, change up the marker.

Price of milsim parts really irks me. I blame that on the OPSGEAR monopoly, tho. They really don't have any competition, so they're free to charge exorbitant amounts of money for their products.

No kidding! OpsGear prices are outrages!
As for Tippmann, I'd like for them to use some other type of metal that would be stronger but lighter then aluminum(titanium?). Also they could cut down the frame to be smaller because of the stronger metal. They could release these new frames for 98C and A5. I know it will never happen, but I'd think it'll be cool.
I'd really like to see Tippmann gun come stock as low presser or just easier (and cheaper) to go low presser.

if it were lower pressure out of the box that would be so awesome because it would be so efficient and not be such a gas hog

egos are better
shutup. no **** there better but ur blowing $1000+ and you/I would be afraid to drop the damn thing and put a little nick or scratch on it. not with a tippmann. if u get pissed you can wip it at the ground or another player and pick it right back up and start shooting again. i would like to see you do that with ur ego....b****.
as for the thread
low pressure would be nice but a lot of noobs buy tippmann as thier 1st gun and use co2 not wanting to spend the $ on n2 and/or dont play that often. lpk is way the expensive and dosnt drops pressure down enough, only to 400psi and u have to buy a reg=$150+
their fine the way they are. if they werent then they wont have such a good rep

I put other, but I guess the only complaint with Tippmann I have is the cost of add-on parts or replacement parts. The markers themselves are not a problem, just the parts (like paying $10 for the ball detent for the A5.....BS).

Like most people, the cost-performance ratio. They're reliable, you can use them as a baseball bat, but they're not efficient, bulky, and usually ugly too.

02-25-2007, 10:24 AM
I see everyone saying they're ugly, but IMO my C98 looks better than 90% of the guns out there. Ions, are so freaking strange looking it makes them ugly. Spyders are just disgusting to look at. I could go on..

Tippmann=milsim=military simulation= trying to use guns that look and feel like the real thing. Real guns are big, heavy and bulky, honestly a few words for you that say "ohh tippmanns weigh alot" simply suck it up and go get in shape. Tippmanns stock weigh like what 3.3 pounds? Haha wow lets add 2 pounds for a 12 ounce and 1 pound for the paint If you are complaining about carrrying around 6 pounds for awhile try carrying a vest loaded with 1000 balls, 2 steel hpa tanks and a 12 ounce while carrying an a-5 with a full hopper mp5 shroud, freak kit incase of diffrent paint sizes because of numerous cases of paint, saw stock 50 cal mag and red dot around for days at d-day.I didnt complain frankly i liked it i felt like a real soldier sucking it up and dealin with it:) honestly though if and i mean if anything i would like to see tippmann put an acs system in the a-5

Seen it done. I love how you kids always confuse abusability and durability. I also love my Ego, even if it's not ever going to be quite as special to me as my Tippmann.
In terms of the thread I would like to see Tippmann make a more compact marker. What irks me about this is that it probably wouldn't be that hard for them to do, but they just don't do it.

The looks don't stand out and it isn't low pressure, but then again, it is mechanical.
