Sometimes, but we don't really call it retreating.... It's more like when ur out # 3 to 1, and u fall back to protect the flag. We call it a "Defensive Procaution" :)

Sometimes you got too ,regroup your thoughts on your next move.If its 3 on 1 and there trying to flank you out .you got too make the odds better and try to get it down too 1on1 and move too the next guy.But then theres the ones that will stand there and take it like a man as they say.You know the ones, they come back it looking like a big broken paintball

Ive never played on a real field, but me my brothers and friends go out to these old dirtbike jumps and play all the time..ive never retreated once and dont plan to in the future. I think it would be differnet playing with people i didnt know on a real field who wanna win but out there if u retreat ure a little girl and u get ragged on bad..man i felt sorry for my little bro when he surrenderd cus he was outnumberd...he ate S**t for that for a long time.

Yeah, retreating can be a valuable option sometimes when you play. The object of the game is to win, and have fun of course. But sometimes you need to take a stragetic move to 1.defend yourself, 2. give yourself better position, 3. delay the clock (In tournaments you get points for remaining players after the time runs out) So the more players you have left the more points you get. So it may be worth it to fall back and stall... Its not about being wussy and retreating. Its about being smart and salvaging what you can

When I play i go as far back as i want then flank the other team from behing while the rest of my team beats on em from the other side. If that means retreating then i guess i do sometimes.

The only time i retread is when i am gonna try something new or when i am out numered. Like in this one game i was out numbered three to 1 and i had to retreat so i wouldn't get shot in the back (i hate that). i ended up bring it down to two on one before getting hit in the foot.

Yeah sometimes, you have too. It is normally a good idea not too, but then again play it safe. If the other team is coming around the flanks and is starting to corner you or ruin ur position retreating back to form new flanks and gain a better position is normally a better idea.

Sometimes. I feel in certain situations that you need to retreat and regroup. I don't really consider it "chickening out" but more or less making an intelligent decision.

usually when i play in a large group i will lead a small fire team of about three people and spear-head a rush at the wistle blow. we run flat out and try to penetrate as deep as possible. when we encouter resistance be hit the dirt and try to hold the position so others can advance. if we get rushed or find the position indefensible we try to make it back and inform the others of enemy movements. retreat offers the ability to regroup and pool information. it also allows you to redirect your forces more effectively. only a fool limits his options.

The last time I was at a field i was the last one on my team left and the ref encouraged me to surrender. He said that when it's 4 on 1 you have 0 chance and you will probably get bunkered. It's better to bow out graciously than to feel extreme pain whenever you touch one of your 100 bruizes you got from an angel at close range.

If you surrender, you usually get made fun of by your friends. WHich happened to my friend whos a wussy and shot all of his ammo and quit. He said "So there was like 10 people" When actually there was two. So now we call him BBC (Big B****h Charlie)

When I first started playing I thought I would never retreat, then I decided it was a good tactic that I would call stalling for time. I got nicknamed the bull for always charging in, but in tournaments when you get out they get points, so call it what you will retreating is a smart move in a tourney. In rec ball no way..

well i do retreat some times. now this doesn't mean i'm a wuss or anything.

Here is an example: i was playing outlaw paintball with my friends. This one round i was by myself because both of my teammates were out. So anyway i was left alone and it was me v.s. 4 ppl. you know what i did? i "retreated" so maybe i could have a chance in taking out a couple of players. i didn't retreat because i'am a wuss. well anyway i ended up getting my @$$ lit up by 3 of them. got shot in the head 4 times and once on the chest.

I retreated once and boy was I glad. It was a scneario game and we were suppose to guard a hill (2 of us) me and my friend were up there 2 units (20 people) came up to guard the hill also, they werent on our team so i said "screw it! We're dead we will retreat to our stronghold and regroup for some people and take them out." "NO!" he said. "We'll stay here and ambush them"

I ran. 5 mins later I heard "HIT" "HIT" GAAD DAARNNNET IM HIT." "HIT YOU MOTHER F******" "HIT!"

a couple miniutes later he was covered in purple paint. HJe was very angry I didnt stay with him.

Am I a wuss?

retreating can sometimes be the best option, if you are outnumbered you could retreat before the opposition sees you, than you could try to fank them or position yourself someplace where you can snipe them from the side.

you have to retreat sometimes, or else you're stupid. The key is to not retreat at the sound of a talon 50 feet away.

Knowing when to retreat is just as important as knowing when to push forward. If you hold your ground in a bad situation you'll get flanked or bunkered. Retreating isn't *****, it's smart! We're not playing paintball to seem macho. I play to have fun, and to WIN! If it's 3 on 1, I hold a much better chance by trying to move back, and then around my enemies. Personally, I'd rather shoot out all 3 of them than get bunkered. But, if you like to get bunkered, then go ahead, hold your ground.

You NEVER retrat in this game, you simply advance towards rear in a rapidly expedited manner.

Well, I disagree with the above post, that's for sure.

You can never really "retreat," since the game isn't over until time runs out. All you can do is fall back. Retreating would mean you give up and leave, but you can't up and leave in the middle of a game.

But to fall back? Every team has to every now and then. It could be for any number of reasons. But sometimes it's necessary to fall back and seek better cover, regroup, etc. For example...let's say it's 1 or 2 players firing from a bunker. Before long, there's 5 people from the other team laying supressing fire and advancing on the bunker, nearly flushing it out or rushing it.

Well, if you're smart, you'll FALL BACK, and hopefully regroup with some other teammates to mount a counter attack - or at least find better cover or a new angle of attack.

It's not retreating, it's advancing in an alternate direction.

I guess the question really is, are you trying to look good, or win? If you want to look good, then by all means, charge those 5 guys all by yourself. Everyone will give you credit for bravery. If you want to win, make those five come to you. Fall back to cover, take aimed shots from a stable position while they are shooting on the run. Unless they are a good team, they probably won't advance very well together as a team and you can get them one at a time. I watched a newbie do just this in a 3 vs. 1 situation this weekend. He kept falling back to protect his flanks and firing from cover and ended up winning. It wasn't as exciting as a head first rush up the middle, but it was impressive.

Retreating is part of the game..it is imporant and if you use it wisely, it can win you many matches.

I retreat on occasion, when necessary, but i usually try to hold my ground. You have a better advantage that way but sometimes it is smart to retreat. Especially on rec games cause you will always find a couple wuss noobs in the back and you can regroup w/ them

..or you can take my way..and use them as bait :D whahahah

Retreating to me doensn't mean turning around and running scared..it means tactically stuck and trying to find a new way of advancing or getting a better position.
