What is a good gun to step up from an ion in the range of $350-$600.

if you can find a proto matrix in good, used condition, buy it. that's one fo the best markers around IMO.

Fusions, Proto's, Rails, Mini's, used Vikings/Excals, Used Intimidators will all be fantastic markers for you in that price range.

I would recommmend the Fusion, Mini, Protos, Used DMs, Used Etek?? <- that might be a little over but you might be able to find one
I assume you already have like a hopper, and tank and all the other equipment right? If not you need to consider that when purchasing the gun.
