Well.. you pay what you for what you get. Paintball gear is pretty nice stuff that is usauly priced pretty good. If it was not expensive almost every newbie would START w/ a tricked cocker, then they wouldnt be able to have the fun of upgrading.

it's cuz they can charge that much, prices have gone down though (i've heard rumores or 25ç a ball) but there is a high demand for paintball and its a business for lots of people and they will charge as much as people will pay.

paintball requires alot of gear. mask, hopper, gun, ect.
you have to start small. I started with a brass eagle stingray 2 years ago. I'm kinda glad i got a simple crappy gun, because when i got my piranha pro, the difference was awesome (of course it would be) This sport usually requires you to have a job which i think that everyone would agree that working sucks (at least mine does)

would paintballing be expensive also cuz the companies dont have all the publicity and stuff so basiclly they have a smaller pool of customers, but if paintballing came as popular as football and a company like rps or jt got as popular as nike or something like that prices could drop...

The cost of paint back in the 80's there talking about. But back then you didn't shoot 200 balls in a few mins either. You might of shot 50 balls all day.The markers where not like they are now.So prices have gone down. Now adays its call supply and demand. If you want the best there is you got too paid for it.

Markers, masks and gear are expensive, but for the most part they are one time purchases. Where the manufacturers have you by the gonads, paintballs, cause you have to buy them almost everytime you play. I shoot Diablo Blaze, at $48 a case (maybe a little more) from http://www.paintballgear.com. Though I'm sidelined for now, when I'm playing, I spend about $100 a month (sometimes more) on paint, cause you gotta have it to play.
It used to cost me like $30 a day to play including lunch and fieild fees! Now that I actually have a semi I am looking at like it is going to cost me upwards of $100! GOOD GOD! I gotta talk my field into letting bring my own paint cuz $55 for a half case and $100 per case is freakin recockulus! Specally when I can get a total case for like 40-50$!!! Oh but they give free Co2 fills.. BFD like that would cost me 10$!
Ooops going into a rant guess I better shutup and find a new field eh?LOL

a new walk-on player at our field will pay $35 for equipment, $10 field fee and $45 for a half case of PMI Premium ... if he/she needs a second air fill, that's about $3. So, about $100 for a whole day of play. What kills me about these fees is the fact that the markers aren't worth a poot and the lenses in the goggles are so scratched and ragged out that you can hardly see through them.

It cost me $10 field fee at my local field, with free air fills. I think its like $25 for field fee/rental too. They have paint thats like $60 a case, but they have different kinds of paint almost every week.

you guys pay for air????
whoa.
at our field they traded field fees for free air from the co2 and nitro supplier. so now we have like 50 empty tanks to take back to the warehouse, but we are too lazy to get it done.

for me its $10 field fee, $5 for 1 fill-$10 for all day air, and i usually get 500 balls for $20. They also sell 140 with a tube for $10, 1000 for $40, 2000 for $70. I usually get 500 balls and only 1 fill cause i use a 20 oz. So i spend about $35 to $55 everytime i go.

ok no1 pays 50 cents for a ball anymore i was talking about when paintball 1st came out. that would mean 1000$ for 2000balls, nobody has payed that for atleast 10 yrs. i spend a lot of money on upgrades, i've explained my situation lots of times, but since no1 pays attention i'll give it again.
i play in my bayckyard, and i'm pretty good on balls, its hot so people normally don't play more than 5 games a day before they are done (i think thats retarded i'd play all day long) so i can stay under 500 balls easily, so i don't even need to fill my tank :D. i play 1 time a week so i can stay under 30 for balls, 12 for co2 and thats it

Try going snowboarding. Then come back and tell me how expensive you think paint is. Do have any idea what lift tickets cost? And the board? The gas to get up there and then spend the whole day waiting in lines, f*uck that, i'd rather play paint. It's a lot cheaper. Snowboarding can get up around 200 bucks real fast. And that's if you own a board. They cost upwards of 500 for a decent one that people won't make fun of. Try going to an amusement park for the day. That sh*t aint cheap. Or skateboarding. 125 bucks for a good skateboard and then it breaks three to five months later and you have to get a new one. The barrings are always warring out, the wheels ware out, the trucks get screwed up from grinding. That aint cheap either. I can name quite a few hobbies that are up there. Go to the bar and drink beer and shoot pool, what a waist of money that is! I spent 50 bucks at the bar on my twenty first birthday. And some would say that is cheap. What about spending that every weekend. 200 a month. What about buying a half ounce of weed every two weeks. 80 bucks a month. I spend verious amounts on paint when playing, I like to avoid the field because they charge 80 for a case. I can get it for 50. They have zap pro series, I can get el tigre and play with style for 50. Otherwise I use these sheridans by diablo. 6 bucks for 200. I buy a couple bags of those and I'm good to go. Paintball has an expensive initial investment, but is relatively inexpensive after that. No more expensive than other waists of time.
