:crazy::crazy:
lol
I have been reading barrel reviews but i can't figure out what one to get. looking to spend less the $50 on one.
I also read the stickies.
here is my marker (can't link yet)
I didn't think it was curving that bad until i put the scope on it.. then holly crap i can see it.
i know its not impossible to take that away. but even in video games i play with signal round. I want a it accurate at distance. i always site my stuff in for a good distance then i adjust from there if the target is closer.
so do i want a riffled barrel?
i have seen some very good reviews on the lower cost barrels but i'm having trouble figuring out witch one is for me.
I'm looking at the J&J 14 or 16 inch. but its not rifled
I'm also willing to spend a little more for a "perfect match" barrel to what I'm looking for.
until then any way to minimize this until i find a barrel? should i turn up the volicty some? (its factory right now)
any help for the noob (owned marker for all of 23 hours :blah:)

Rifled barrels are useless. They don't do anything since a paintball is a round ball filled with goo, rather than a solid metal bullet.
The J&J is one of two barrels that I recommend all the time for under $50, the other being the CP 1 Piece, which IMO is the best barrel for the money.
In terms of remedying the curving paint, you shouldn't up your velocity, leave it just below 300fps. You could try nicer paint, but in general stock tippmann barrels just suck.

i'm going to look at that other barrel also
any idea what the 98 custom is set for from the factory? (FPS)

I'm guessing most paintball guns don't come tuned to any specific velocity from the "factory," since their main focus is that it's assembled and working properly. Mine never have and i've bought at least 5 bnib markers, 3 of which were shooting hot right out of the box.
Like Kowz said, try turning the velocity down, since a high velocity actually can cause paintballs to curve. If you don't have convenient access to a chrono, i HIGHLY suggest buying a handheld one. There's no price limit on safety.
Another thing that can cause curving is low grade paint or damaged paint. I've used Big Ball many times and it's decent but you've really got to check the paint before you buy it. Sometimes a ball or two might be cracked or busted in a bag, which makes a lot of the others around it wet, swollen, greasy, etc, all of which affect the ball's quality. In the future, ALWAYS open the case to check the paint before buying.

if they've got it, get the xball. if not, go with the Visual Impact. Those are the best paints that walmart carries.
but yeah, definitely take the box up to the counter there at the sporting goods section and let them inspect the bags. if the balls are showing flat spots, broken balls, or pits in the balls, grab a different box.
getting a new barrel will most definitely help. the barrels that come with the tippmans stock are just absolutely horrible. We voted them as one of the top 3 worst stock barrels last year.
As our beloved staff have also pointed out, the J&J is very good, the CP is Very good, and the lucky Un1tec barrel is also very good. All three of which you can get from this guy- http://stores.ebay.com/Fighter-Paintball_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ7678695QQftidZ 2QQtZkm if you cant get one of his auctions before it ends, dont worry. He's always relisting everything as long as he has it in stock. And he's constantly restocking.

Well, first of all you don't have your gun chrono'd. Most tipps and spyders come from the factory shooting hot, which may cause balls to curve. Take it somewhere and get is set at 280-290 fps.
Second, how far are you trying to shoot? It's a ball, it's gonna curve eventually.
And lastly, you probably do not have a reg...so you're consistency will be all over the place making it so that your balls don't go to the same place everytime.

id go for a winforce barrel $30 better then any other barrel I have used to date and ive used alot, ive used a rifled one and it didnt do much, it was ok but not great. i havent used a j&j however.
upping velocity will ruin your accuracy keep it about 270-280 and youll be best off.

It's easier to manuever and less of a pain to clean, but it's your call. Also, 16" can draw friction and causes distance and accuracy to deplete.

like everyone else said id would turn down your velocity. My spyder was shooting at 330fps out of the box which is very dangerous. also all of the tippys that ive shot out of the box they were around 310fps to 330 fps. turn it down and see what its like. also i would suggest buying a handheld chrono like other suggested. keep it around 280fps or lower.

okay guy guys i got my J&J :D
i put it on and the curving was WORSE
so i turn the vol. down 1.5 turns and it helped, then i went a got x-ball and vision impact balls
the vision impact one shoot really well so far little curve every now and again but MUCH MUCH better i can hit my door knob in 3/5 shoots dead on and the other times it really close (within like 1-2 inches) once in a while it will go stray
i have tried the xball yet
how should balls fit in the barrel? the xball roll through easy and vison are kinda easy an only touch the barel in 2 really small spots...... dont know about the xball cuase they roll out

Well, with a tippy, or any open bolt gun it doesn't really matter THAT much. I've shot paint a bit too small for my barrel out of a nice barrel and it shot very well. Ideally you want the ball to get stuck, but you should be able to blow it out with an easy puff of air.
