I was just wondering I have met kids who get there parents to buy them these nice expensive guns for example I saw this kid brand new to paintball and his mom bought him a sl66. To be honest my dad bought me my gun but I am currently paying him off and will have completly paid him off by april ( got my gun in december and not much good paying jobs for a kid my age in my town). At least I made an effort. So be honest where. And could we plaease keep the bad mouthing to a minimun.

I pay for what I can. The stuff I get are gifts from my parents (such as gun, money, etc.) However I do pay for playing and whatever else I can when I have the money. So if you could add a half and half that would be great lol.

Either me or sponsors. Sometimes friends give me small stuff, we usually exchange paintball stuff as gifts.

Crede777
03-01-2007, 03:49 PM
I pay for my own stuff, but my parents are very supportive and help sometimes.

Also, I receive very little from sponsors, but get huge discounts. (Contact pants, 2 Contact jersies, gloves, E-ventz for $100. Free Sly barrels. Nxe packs and things are coming.) Also I get paint for free for the most part when I play at the sponsor field. (They give us X amount of cases to use at our discretion).

The majority of money spent is on gas/food/hotel/airfare.

I got my mask from "santa", my a-5 from "santa", my 10 dollar podpack from my dad (for christmas), and my jersey (for christmas) from my dad. My parents pay for my paint mostly, just 'cause I'll use 700-800 paintballs a day. My parents are going to make me pay for my paint, soon.

I buy all of my stuff. I get paintball stuff that i order with my parents credit card for my birthday, and christmas (I dont celebrate christmas tho). Sometimes my parents surprise me with stuff off of a list i make lol. Besides those 2 days, i pay for everything, including the cost of playing. Now, im a working man, so i can pull it off, but it gets really expensive for me cause i play every weekend. :D

I think the poll should be:

Where does the Money for your gear come from:
A. I work for it and it comes from outside my family
B. My parents

Does it count as buying it yourself if you're using a regular allowance your parents give you? Or money they pay you for "chores" count? And I think "I got it as a present" should count as parents as well. I just know I always see a lot of kids below legal working age with high end guns...

Anyway, put me in the "I pay (with my wifes permission).

This should be a whole separate choice for all us married guys.

i think its a lie when i see that only one vote has had their mom pay for their crap. i know there are those spoiled little 13 y/o kids lurking around here somewhere. with college fees and tryin to maintain a paintball team...i wouldnt excatly mind having a mother will to waste money possibly the 2 most expensive things you can do with your life :P . having to pay for everything makes rethink the theory "money cant buy happiness" eh? i tend disagree...BIG TIME, lmao

Headhunter
03-02-2007, 09:30 AM
You guys ask for permission first? :paranoid:
Either A: you're not married or B: independantly wealthy and therefore money isn't a concern for you.

It's not that we ask for permission, but we have other priorities in life, to list a possible few: bills: like electric, fuel, water and sewage, telephone, cable, internet, cell phone, vehicles, medical, credit cards, rent or house payment, and any others I didn't cover. Lets not forget those vehicles need fuel and people need to eat. Houses need repair and apartments need touching up and families need clothing. So we don't ask for permission, we just have to take care of priorities first.

Believe me, I wouldn't trade my married life for a single life for anything. Because of my wife, my life keeps getting better and better.

But but but... it's like, paintball... 'n stuff... man...Paintball will take a back seat to other things trust me, it won't be that bad. But PBR will still be here. Of course I failed to mention that my wife plays on occasion and not only has helped, supported and assisted with the paintball business that I had, but has mentioned that maybe we should look into starting it again...

nerdcore

I sure would like to get into the paintball business. Mrs. nerdcore plays occasionally (not too crazy about it) but the aspect of throwing myself into the business side of paintball intrigues her. I'm just not sure how to proceed with that. And that's probably straying too much from the topic of this thread.

I pay for most of my own stuff but i do bum money off of my parents from time to time.

What i think you are trying to get at is the whole i hate you because your parents bought you a high end gun. What you are feeling isn't hate, it's envy. You know that if your parents where willing and had the money to buy you the same thing you would take it without complaint.

gowd i betcha that most people who said that they buy their own stuffz are lying...

i live in down tow orlando where alot of people are ritch and their parents buy them nice angels and ions and carnivores ect. i get soooooo mad at them because i have my little first gen spyder piliot and thew go arounda and glaot how good they are and fabricate stories. then i go our and play them and they either suck , camp or poo them selvs at the back of the feild while people like my (Baller on a budget) are running up on them and pinning them.
these people dont dersve nice guns because they cant play for crusty paint in a gun...
some of yeall are lucky that your parents will let you borrow money and pay them back i have to save up all my money at 10$/week... and i need 500$for my new set up...
includes:
dye trousers
spyder VS3
air tank 68ci/3000psi
redz tank cover
red body kit
there i rest my case

lol, 117 vs 5.

Apparently 96% of paintballers pay for their own gear....

FYI, the following count as "Mom & Dad":

Christmas and Birthday presents
"My dad bought my gun, hopper, tank and mask, but I buy my paint with my allowance"
Being overpaid for menial jobs (i.e. my dad bought me an 07EGO because I take out the trash each week). But it looks like a lot of sigged "98%..." quotes will have to be changed.

Last weekend I played against a 13 year old with a Miami Rage. That's a 1400 dollar gun.

And the kid sucked and was whiney.

They both pay for their own stuff too, got nice gear.
