I have $200, and I need my first gun, what gun should I get? (sry for posting all of these topics, just can't figure out what to get, and my price range keeps going up, last of the topics though.)

If you don't already stuff like a tank, mask, hopper, etc. then i'd say an evo or a pilot would be good.

At Tippmann 98 custom power pack for $160. These are great noob guns.

yes I agree, in the long run, these two guns will be better bang for you buck. They are two high-end guns. Promaster goes for about $250...the Ion goes for abou $225. Both have their plus and minuses...i personally own a Promaster and its great...its faster then Ion for one...but its your opinion...go research about on here!

The promaster is a great gun, and the ion is good to but you have to ask .... are you technical enough to jump head first into an electro-pneumatic marker? Then generally require more troubleshooting and maitenance. If you want to jump into the sport with a decent gun without worrying about spending hours working on your gun go with a tippmann untill you have a better understanding of how markers work.

for a first gun thats in-expensive and extremely reliable, i'd hunt down a PMI3 (or VM-68, same marker different names...) they're possibly the most solid built markers ever. i've seen them dropped in man eating puddles and come out shoting. (lets see an electro do that) you CANT break them, and if you do your superman because all the major parts are solid metal. not to mention you can be lax about cleaning them and they still perform more than admirably. (my VMX only gets cleaned and oiled twice a year... once for storage, one to begin play...)

if your just starting the game dont worry about how much your marker weighs, how fast it can shoot, how cool it looks, just worry that it can shoot when you need it to shoot and in the general direction of where you need it to shoot.

This is what I have if you are interested

I have one red 2004 EVO which is accompanied by a Diablo TSA LED Backman. The marker has a clamping feed neck, Delrin bolt, flush cocking rod; drop forward with on /off ASA and a 20 ounce CO2. $150.00

I have one gold/pewter fade 2004 EVO which is accompanied by a Diablo TSA LED Backman. The marker has a clamping feed neck, Delrin bolt, flush cocking rod; drop forward with on /off ASA and a 20 ounce CO2. $150.00

The 3rd is a Black G-3 BL VF it has an Electronic grip installed but the manual is included. It has the flush cocking rod set up installed as well as a drop forward with on/off ASA and 2 12 ounce Co2 bottles. $100.00

All three markers come with parts pack (o-rings and springs) and a car charger and a used Extreme Rage Mask.

I also have a Reds pod belt that includes 5 pods, and many spare parts for the above listed markers. Which I will include if someone were to purchase all three markers as a package.

A big question is what type of paintball are you going to play. If you are going woodsball, the Tippmanns, the BT-4 and PCS US-5 are all decent starters. For speedball you would probably want something different (can't say what exactly, I'm a woods guy).

Well, I'm with binary, in that if you are first starting, you probably should not get an EP marker, just get an electro blowback like an EVO you can run co2 on.

Tippmann A-5. Low maintenance, tough, reliable, small profile, and light (well, lighter than most). And it looks so damn good. Unfortunately at its average $200 pricetag you won't get a mask, canister, pods, or a harness. Although I've seen starter kits for $30-$50, so yeah definitely save up a little more if you want a quality starter gun. I hate to say it, but paintball isn't exactly one of the cheaper sports if you really want to make the most of it. I'm learning as I go along too...

Well he says he is a newb, and it is his first gun, so I don't think a high-end like a Promaster is such a good idea. I would recommend a refurbished Spyder Pilot ACS from Firstcallpaintball.com and a good hopper (Egg II or better) a good HPA tank if you can get one cheap, if not 20oz. CO2, and a J&J Cremearic barrel. Also, if you decide you don't like paintball for some reason (couldn't imagine why) then you don't have as much invested. Start small and work your way up. Starting with a lesser marker might help prevent you from just using the spray-and-pray method and using skill to take out the guys with higher-end guns. It will be better in the long run IMO. Thats my advice.

In the long range yes it might be good. But the thing is it would cost more than $50 more, he would first have to get a HPA tank and second get a decent loader. Which would end up being more than $50, also as he said ^ the Ion just went up by $25 not too long ago.

You mean the Trilogy ones? Yeah those are nice they are slightly simpler than the normal autocockers which is great and they perform really nice. So I agree with Plasma a Trilogy package wouldn't be a bad idea. Just make sure you don't get the Trilogy sport.

It wouldn't be a good idea getting a tril since you can get better guns in the price range.

I would say look at markers that will work on co2. If you are just starting and you get a high end marker. You will need Hpa tank. And a good hopper.

Get a Tippmann 98 Custom package from Wal-Mart. Around 159

Use it for a while. If you like the sport and have decided what you want to play Speedball or woodsball. Plus you will run into people with other markers.

Then move on to the style you chose. Dump the Tippmann on E-Pay. Just open the package cleanly and save it to repack it. You wont lose that much if you decide to sell it.
