This may sound really stupid (I'm a newb) but, What is feild stripping your gun and how do you do it? ... Any help would be appreciated. (I'm getting a a-5 - I don't hav it yet) - I currently hav a spyder tl-x and a pilot.

Field stripping is usually when you have to break the marker down in the field to clean a chop or resolve an issue with marker functioning.

Proper vangard care between days of play through stripping, cleaning, and oiling should keep you from having to field strip more than occasionally. Tippmanns are usually pretty reliable like that. When you get the marker there will be directions in the manual for how to field strip and care for it.

Field striping your marker is not only when paint chops and you clean it, Field strip is when you can take the firing springs, bolt out and internal parts of the maker with little or no tools. Many Tippmans are difficult to field strip. If you want a tippy that’s field strippable go with the X7.

You should never need to field strip a Tippmann. They work that well. 98's you cant really field strip. But like I said you shouldnt need to.

That is impossible. How could you take it apart with no tools? You need allen wrenches just to take the body off.

X-7's are way too much money and I'm trading (not buying) the a-5

He must have been referring to the A-5 where you dont need tools.

You were however correct the 98 does require an allen wrench to remove the body.

<3 homedepot and my welder, makes adding a small piece of metal to bolts real easy, and yet still looks good(i spent alot of time making the added pieced look good) did this so when we go camping for anywhere from 5 days too 3 weeks i can take care of any problem, even if i loose my wrenches!!!
i did buy the stainless steel bolts first though to avoid rust, used a allen wrench and weird kinda wing nut i got all in all, took a hour but all 6 of my 98's dont need tools anymore ;)

lol what do u need 6 98's for?

im sure with some tinkering around you could rig up a pin system, like they have on the hoods of racecars, so you just have to pull the pins out.
