The ion isn't very loud, not sure about the tril but i'd say it'd be louder then an ion. Best way to really find out is to try the guns out yourself. But anyway don't even bother w/ teh tril it's nothing great and isn't the nice imo. If you want a cocker get like a prostock and e2 it. But i'd just keep the ion and get a new feedneck, trigger, qev, and asa for it. I'd also look into the lasoya promaster, rail, fusion, mini, and older timmys.

I'd get the ion. It will be faster unless you are talking about the SF trilogies, the maintenance will be easier, more upgrades, etc.

I'd say the cocker wins on maintenance, where you just pull out the bolt and lube it, where the Ion you have to take the whole gun apart to lube hte bolt. Overall the Ion would be a better performer than a mech Trilly, but there are better guns in the same price range like the Lasoya Promaster, Wrath, and VS2.

The trilogy, or trilogy owners for that matter, definitely have a reputation of short stroking [not making a full pull/release on the trigger]. this causes either chronic chopping, breaks, and possible bolt damage. The feedneck requires major sanding of your hopper, and while still on the bad subject, your hopper could very well fall right off.at a local rec scenario prep game, i bolted down the field like a savage boar, and realized my reloader had flown off about 20 feet back. the insides were drenched with broken paint, and i went into a cussing fit.
and if you do happen to chop, it will happen when you least expect it.
there was this big heavyset guy blazing shots at me, but i whipped around and had him pinned.
i'm about to go for the bunker, the win, be the game hero, and i jump out and pop. My EFFIN GUN CHOPS! I leap, nearly flip, back into my bunker and my teammate actually had to gog him from the 50.
So those are the downsides of a trilogy, i wouldn't reccomend it for the speed/tourney scene. only for recreational use.
There's a little invoice on the trilogy.
I don't personally own an ion, but three of my teammates do.
I would suggest the ion for the barenaked reasons stated above.
On the contrary, both guns' feednecks hold hoppers like CVS brand vaseline.
